Dr. William Carr of Immaculata University Performs at Mighty Macs Black Tie Gala

Dr. William Carr, Steinway Artist and professor of music at Immaculata University, will perform at the Mighty Macs The Movie Black Tie Gala on Tuesday, March 29. The gala will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Immaculata Mighty Macs national women´s college basketball championship. Dr. Carr will perform two pieces at the event, the "Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise," Opus 22, by Frederic Chopin, and the "Etude in D Sharp Minor," Opus 8, No. 12, by Alexander Scriabin.
Dr. Carr received degrees in piano performance from Temple University. He continued his studies under the world-renowned Adele Marcus at the Juilliard School in the Graduate Professional Studies Program. He received his doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance from the Catholic University of America. He earned post-doctoral performance certificates from the Munich Conservatory in Chamber Music and from the Liszt Weimar Conservatory through studies with concert pianist Paul Badura-Skoda in Germany and Austria. In 2005, he was named a Steinway Artist. Inclusion on the worldwide Steinway Artist Roster is reserved for those who are recognized by Steinway & Sons as being at the top of their field. Dr. Carr also holds a master´s degree in international relations/international business from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was the first recipient of the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award at Immaculata University.
