Dr. Sally Winterton of Downingtown, PA, Receives Alumni Medal from Immaculata University

The Alumni Association of Immaculata University announces that Downingtown, PA, resident Sally T. Winterton, EdD, ´68, is the recipient of the Alumni Medal for 2009. The Alumni Medal is presented to recognize outstanding volunteer service and support to Immaculata University. Dr. Winterton´s loyalty and commitment to Immaculata is an excellent example to other alumni. Her continued concern and effort put forth for the sake of the University has helped Immaculata develop and progress into the future.
Sally is an advocate of strong Catholic principles, and believes that she exhibits the principles through her service to and affection for Immaculata. Her ongoing service to Immaculata has led her to become involved with many Immaculata alumni related activities. Since her graduation, Sally has also been a financial contributor to Immaculata. Currently she is an associate professor in Elementary Education at West Chester University.
As a volunteer for the annual alumni telethon for over thirty years, Sally enjoys sharing news with her fellow alums while reminding them how important it is to give back to the University. Outside of the telethon, she personally maintains contact with her classmates, and attends alumni networking events.
Immaculata has previously honored Sally by inviting her to be a presenter for Council Day and Homecoming. Since 1970, Sally has regularly attended Homecoming and has volunteered her time at numerous social and fundraising events.
Service to the Alumni Association has been a passion for Sally who has held many roles within the Alumni Association. On seven occasions, she has been elected for a term on the Board of Governors. During her time on the Board of Governors, Sally has served as vice president and parliamentarian. In addition, Sally has held other leadership positions at Immaculata including chair of the nominations committee, the alumnae development executive council and the Pacesetters Society, as well as serving as co-chair for the Alumnae Medal/Amethyst Award committee, communications committee, alumnae fund raising committee, and the Homecoming committee.
Immaculata University is honored to present this award to such a deserving alumna.
