Chester County Resident to Teach in the Foreign Language Department of IU

Immaculata University announces the appointment of Alvaro I. Tarrago, of Malvern, PA, as an instructor in the Foreign Language Department. Mr. Tarrago has extensive knowledge of several languages including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Catalan, and Portuguese.
As an adjunct instructor at Immaculata University, Mr. Tarrago taught Spanish for the past two years. In addition to teaching Spanish at several other institutions throughout his career, he taught courses on various international cultural issues such as Globalization and Cultural Negotiations, Spanish for Medical Personnel, and Comparative Politics.
While in the international business world, Mr. Tarrago served for four years as an international consultant in the U.S. and Europe working for small and medium size pharmaceutical and airline firms based in France and Italy. For two years, he was director of International Development for Penauille Polyservices, S.A. in Paris. From 1996 to 1998, he worked in Geneva and Paris as the International Marketing and Export director for Diepharmex. Before that position, Mr. Tarrago was a worldwide marketing and customer service manager for LSG Lufthansa Service/Sky Chefs working in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He began his international business career in the banking and finance industry working in Mexico, New York, and Puerto Rico during the 1980s.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Montclair State College in New Jersey, Mr. Tarrago continued his studies, receiving a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of South Carolina. He received his second master´s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Ècole des Hautes Ètudes en Sciences Sociales, in Paris, France where he is currently a doctoral candidate in Social and Cultural Anthropology. During his career, Mr. Tarrago has been a guest speaker at many conferences across the United States and such international locales as France and Venezuela. He holds memberships in professional associations including the American Political Science Association, the American Anthropological Association, and the Association pour la Recherche à I´EHESS.
Immaculata University, a Catholic, coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
