Chester County Resident Mary Ann Weselyk Named Featured Artist for the 24th Annual Immaculata Art Show
Immaculata University announces that Mary Ann Weselyk, of Unionville, PA, will be the featured artist for the 24th Annual Immaculata University Art Show. Weselyk, a full-time artist, has been an invited artist to the Immaculata show since 1999. The Art Show will open with a premier ticketed reception on Friday, February 2, 2007, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The show runs, free of charge, from Saturday. February 3, through Sunday, February 11.
Weselyk, primarily an oil painter, occasionally works in acrylic and monotypes to create exaggerated shapes and takes the viewer out of the mundane and into a place where they can visually escape. Her extensive study of impressionism, post-impressionism, and the modern revolutionary movements have opened her eyes to, as she calls it, "art without boundaries." Trained by Ray Dijohn, she has received many awards throughout her career including several Best in Show honors. Her artwork is owned and displayed locally, nationally, and internationally.
"I was thrilled that Immaculata chose me as their Featured Artist. The Immaculata show has always been very open-minded to new artistic vision," comments Weselyk on the announcement of being named the Featured Artist for the 2007 Art Show.
Always interested in new artist expression, Weselyk is introducing a Children´s Series of original artwork that will veer a little toward the abstract side. She plans to complete four paintings a year that are geared toward young people. Art runs in the Weselyk family. The 2007 Show will also provide an outlet for the bronze sculptures that her daughter, Hattie Weselyk, of Springfield, PA, create.
Original works by over 150 known juried artists will be for sale and on display during the Immaculata University Art Show. All proceeds from the Art Show benefit the University´s scholarship fund.
