“Chester County Bands Together” Concert

"Chester County Bands Together" is the name of the joint concert to be presented by the Immaculata University Wind Ensemble and the Chester County Concert Band on Sunday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. in Alumnae Hall on the campus of Immaculata University.
Dr. Victor Vallo, musical director of the Immaculata University Wind Ensemble and chair of the music department at Immaculata, will join with David Reif, musical director of the Chester County Concert Band since 2004. Dr. Vallo comments that "both bands look forward to this new and innovative musical collaboration of both ensembles which will enhance the musical performance."
The program includes: Also Sprach Zarathustra (Theme from 2001) by Strauss; El Capitan March and The Black Horse Troop March by Sousa; Lohengrin (excerpts) by Wagner; Shenandoah by Ticheli; The Cascades by Joplin; Symphony No. 5 (Mvt IV) by Beethoven; Tommy Dorsey´s Boogie Woogie by Dorsey; Disney at the Oscars by Moss; Colonel Bogey March by Alford; West Side Story Selections by Bernstein; and Raider´s March (Raiders of the Lost Ark) by Williams.
Leslie Burnick, vice president of the Chester County Concert Band comments that "As far as we know, nothing like this concert has ever been done before…Playing in a community band has brought musical and social fulfillment to us. We, as fellow musicians, want to inspire the IU students to continue their musical interests on into adulthood."
