Bernadette Maguire ’57, of Philadelphia Receives Alumni Medal from Immaculata University
The Alumni Association of Immaculata University has selected Bernadette Maguire of Philadelphia (19118), PA, as the 2007 recipient of the Alumni Medal. This medal is presented in recognition of outstanding volunteer service and support to Immaculata University.
As a graduate of Immaculata, Class of 1957, Bernadette recently celebrated her 50th reunion. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and continued her education earning a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
During her 35 years of employment at General Electric´s Aerospace Group, Bernadette served as manager of Engineering and held the position of manager of Business Development when she retired. As a professional, Bernadette held memberships in the Society of Women in Engineering and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and has authored or coauthored more than 30 technical papers.
Since her graduation, Bernadette has supported virtually all of the major fundraising initiatives for Immaculata including her current position as chair of the Capital Campaign, "Imagine Immaculataâ€¦Building the Vision. For the past seven years, she has served as a member of the Board of Trustees, including three years as co-chair of the Board and had previously served as co-chair of the President´s Council. In addition, she was co-chair of the Immaculata Golf Invitational and currently is a member of the Immaculata Golf Committee. Bernadette also provided personal support for the construction of the Physics Lab and the creation of a new Chemistry Lab in the late 1990s. She is also generous with her time and support for various campus events.
Immaculata University, a Catholic coeducational institution, is located 20 miles west of Philadelphia, south of the intersection of routes 30 and 352, between Paoli and Exton.
