Immaculata students deliver food from a previous 5K Walk/Run.

The Student Dietetic Association of Immaculata University hosted its annual 5K Walk/Run, called the Be Mighty Runner, on Saturday, April 26, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the campus of Immaculata.  This year’s event included an optional obstacle course halfway through the course.

All proceeds from the walk/run benefit the Nutritional Development Services (NDS) of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  The mission of the NDS is to feed children and those in need by providing resources and connecting federally-funded programs with area schools, child care centers, shelters and community-based centers.  For the Community Food Program, NDS connects the generous donations of individuals, schools and parishes with local food cupboards, soup kitchens and outreach teams.

“Helping the Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is such a great way to give service in our community and help others less fortunate by providing food donations,” stated Colleen Pierce ’14, president of the Student Dietetic Association at Immaculata and a Nutrition Dietetics major.
