How do I get involved with a Special Interest Learning Community?

To get involved with a SILC, complete the Interest Inquiry Form online.  The form includes a few short answer questions to gauge your interest in the SILC. The form is due May 1st and rolling submissions will be accepted after that until each community is full. Students selected to participate will be notified beginning June 12th.

Students must be accepted into Immaculata University and have submitted their deposit in order to be selected to participate in a SILC.

Do I have to take the linked courses associated with the Learning Community?

Yes, the linked courses are integral to the Learning Community and are a required component of participation.

Will the linked courses fit my schedule and align with my course of study?

The classes have been designed to fit into most academic plans as either required classes or electives.

Do I have to major in a specific course of study to participate in a SILC?

All majors are welcome. However, if you have questions about fitting SILCs into the requirements of a specific academic program, we suggest you talk with your academic advisor or the department chair of your intended course of study. Undecided students are encouraged to speak with someone in the Office of Academic Advisement.

How do I register for the SILC courses?

Once you are selected into a Special Interest Learning Communtiy, you will be registered for the two linked courses. This will occur prior to New Student Orientation (NSO) in June. When you attend NSO, you will register for your remaining courses.
