The Sociology/Social Work Club accepts students from all majors who are interested in learning about sociology, social work and careers in such and who enjoy what these fields have to offer.
The Club meets several times a year and has student officers. Typically, meetings center on guest speakers followed with socializing with faculty and fellow students. An annual Christmas party occurs as well. Visits to special field sites, prisons, rehab centers have also occurred. Additional fund-raising efforts to support special Club activities can also occur intermittently.
This fall, Greg Giralamo, Director of Project Concern, a residential rehabilitation program for male, juvenile offenders spoke to the Sociology Club about his work. Project Concern is one of the most popular field placements at Immaculata University and students usually do a whole year of field work there.
