Francien Chenoweth Dorliae, Psy.D.

Dr. Francien Chenoweth Dorliae is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Graduate Psychology. She earned her MA in Counseling Psychology and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Immaculata University.  She is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania.  Dr. Dorliae completed her pre-doctoral internship at Friends Hospital where she rotated on several units such as eating disorder, older adults, women, acute and violent, and the crisis response center. Her doctoral research investigated attitudes of Caucasian and African American psychologists toward the clinical concept of “parentification.” Several of her graduate school writings focused on the integration and application of psychological concepts to culturally diverse clients. Dr. Dorliae holds a MA in Political Science from East Stroudsburg University. She also holds undergraduate degrees in both Political Science and Psychology, and completed an internship at the United Nations, where she reviewed the Human Rights status of countries seeking UN endorsement.
 
Prior to joining the Immaculata faculty, Dr. Dorliae worked as a Staff Clinician at Community Treatment Solutions. She provided counseling to at risk children and adolescents in treatment homes and provided supervision to paraprofessional clinical staff.  She also served on the Cultural Competencies Committee and conducted several trainings on diversity counseling and cultural competencies. Other clinical experiences include working as the Director for the Day Partial Hospital at Northeast Community Center for Mental Health and Mental Retardation, and providing counseling at Girard Medical Center, FMA Professional Resource, and the Philadelphia Center for Human Development.
 
Dr. Dorliae is strongly involved in community services, primarily those relating to culturally diverse clients and children in less developed countries. She is currently involved in a non-profit organization that financially supports a school for children who were victimized by the war in Liberia, West Africa.
