The Writing Center will assist graduate students with the writing process.

Dissertation Writing Sessions

Dissertation writing sessions are a personal, individualized process between the professional writing assistant and the dissertation student. Graduate students working on dissertations who wish to work with a professional writing assistant should send an email to writingcenter@immaculata.edu  to make an appointment. When you write the email, please include the following:

  • subject line that reads "Dissertation Session Request."
  • your phone number
  • attach (as a Word document) any work that you have completed thus far with or without comments from your committee

A professional from the Writing Center will email or call you to discuss the next steps. Sister Claudine Hagerty, IHM and Sister Caritas Schafer, IHM primarily work with graduate students through the dissertation process. Before your first meeting with Sister Claudine or Sister Caritas, please review and complete the IU Writing Center Dissertation Referral Form.

Comprehensive Examination Rule

While the Writing Center is supportive in developing the writing skills of graduate students throughout their program, Writing Center services may not be employed in the comprehensive examination process.
