What is a Writing Session?

Writing sessions are held in the Writing Center. They consist of either one half-hour or two half-hour sessions with a Writing Assistant (WA). Writing Assistants help students to develop their individual writing process.

Planning

  • We can help you to interpret your assignments.
  • We can talk through ideas.
  • We can create organizational charts and outlines.

Drafting:

  • We can make sure your writing is meeting the assignment requirements.
  • We can talk through ideas.
  • We can help you to expand or cut sections of your paper.

Revising:

  • We can make sure your writing is meeting the assignment requirements.
  • We can help you to identify and correct grammar and punctuation mistakes.
  • We can talk through organizational decisions.

We also provide resources to help students with APA, MLA, and Chicago style formatting.

Writing sessions give students the opportunity to express their concerns, ask questions, and/or make comments about their writing.
