Communications Office

Position: Mac – IU’s Mascot

When: Fall and Spring Semesters

Required Skills:  The ability to perform as Mac or be a “spotter” for Mac. Flexibility is key.

Job Descriptions:

Mac: Perform at both on-campus and off-campus events as Mac. Training is provided.

Spotter: Help Mac get into and out of costume and escort Mac to appearances. Training is provided.

Business Office

Position: Business Office Accounting Associate

Hours:  Minimum 10 hours per week

When: Fall Semester 2017

Job Description: This position offers an excellent means of gaining practical experience in the world of accounting and auditing and may help you determine your future specialization. As an accounting associate, you will be asked to perform jobs that include but are not limited to the following:

·         Assist in the preparation of internal reports

·         Assist in preparing for the fiscal year-end audit

·         Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month-end close

·         Prepare journal entries for the review by accounting staff

·         Complete position paper regarding technical accounting transaction in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles

·         Special projects as needed, involving coordination and communication with other departments

Requirements:

·         The ideal candidate is an accounting or finance major who is not expected to graduate until May 2017 at the earliest

Office of Technology Services

Position: Academic technology Lab Aid, Language and Music Lab Aides

Job Description: You will monitor use of the tech labs, maintain printing resources, help individuals overcome technical issues, and enforce lab rules.  Our lab aides enjoy the challenges of learning new software and communicate with other aides and administrators in an online virtual office.

Position: Help Desk & Networking Assistant

Biology Department

Position: Microbiology Lab Technician (2-3)

When:  15 - 20 hours per week (30 weeks per year)

For Biology Majors in at least their Sophomore year and in good academic standing. The Microbiology Lab Technician will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepping cultures and media aseptically for several microbiology labs weekly
  • Maintaining viable cultures from stock supply
  • Running autoclave as needed
  • Ensuring sufficient inventory of media, reagents, cultures, and all other supplies
  • Maintaining a high level of organization and cleanliness within the lab
  • Ensuring that aseptic technique is used at all times in the lab
  • Assist in training of next class before graduating

Training will be provided in the specifics of the job but an ability to work independently is essential. Lab coats and gloves must be worn at all times in this lab.

Position: Biology Department Clerical Assistant (1)

When: 5-7 hours per week (30 weeks per year)

For any student with an interest in clerical and organizational work. The Biology Department Clerical Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Daily mail pick-up and sorting
  • Typing/copying/faxing/filing
  • Organizational projects
  • Tracking Inventories
  • Other tasks as assigned

Training will be provided in the specifics of the job but an ability to work independently and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel would be beneficial.

Position: Biology Animal Husbandry Assistant (1-2)

When: 7 - 10 hours per week (52 weeks per year)

For any student with a genuine love of animals. The Animal Husbandry Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Daily scheduled feeding of all animals in the department  
  • Set up in advance of specimen arrivals
  • Cleaning/changing of animal cages/tanks
  • General care/cleaning of animals
  • Ensuring sufficient inventory of animal supplies

Training will be provided in the specifics of the job but an ability to work independently is essential.

For any Biology Major in at least their Sophomore year.  The Research Assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Meet with faculty advisor to determine schedule
  • Assist advisor in experimental design as needed
  • Carry out experiments as directed by advisor
  • Make and maintain proper solutions as necessary
  • Maintain lab notebooks
  • Other duties as assigned

Chemistry Department

Position: Chemistry Lab Assistant (2-3)

Required Skills: Natural Science Major (will receive training)

Job description: You will prepare lab materials for the chemistry courses with experienced students. The responsibility includes organization of preparation documents, making solutions, getting glassware and equipment ready, and so on. This will look great on a resume, and will give you hands-on experience in a scientific laboratory.

Job Description:

Lab Manager and Research Assistant

Positions: 2 (or enough to fill the allotted hours) Fall and Spring Semesters, some flexible hours, some regular hours, 10 – 15 hours per week

Required Skills: Knowledge of Bio-Feedback software and technology, specifically, Mind Drive and Q-Wiz HEG and Brainwave programs; knowledge of EEG preparation, facility with Excel and data conversion, data storage.

Job Description: Students will create a user-friendly manual to guide the use of the above programs and operate the equipment. Students will assist and instruct other students who use the lab during specified weekly lab hours. Students will help others with conversion of data to Excel, and in the case of research experiences, students will store data in a secure manner. Students will be responsible for the safe use and storage of the equipment, oversight of proper usage of equipment including proper cleaning procedures, and keeping track of consumables.

Music Therapy Clinical Coordination Assistant

Position: 20 hours/week; Fall and Spring Semesters, some flexible hours, some regular hours

Job Duties: Provide support to the Coordinator of Clinical Training (faculty), including liaising with clinical sites, maintaining database of clinical contacts, preparing and mailing documents, and tracking clinical assignments. Will also prepare and maintain listing of internship sites and a directory of national roster internships.

Position: Desk Assistant

Job Description: A desk assistant is a work study student who works for the Academic Success Center (ASC). This position requires strong communication skills and a proactive approach to customer service. The desk assistant will greet students and manage the online sign-in log; provide information about the services of the ASC; create and distribute event flyers; and assist ASC professional staff as needed. Opportunities to represent the ASC at outreach tables and/or present academic success workshops may arise. Availability to work shifts of two or more consecutive hours is preferred.

Position: Academic Tutor

When: Fall and Spring Semesters

Job Description:  Provide peer tutoring to students whom request a tutor for CUS classes (except ENG, LIT, and MATH classes) through the Academic Success Center. Tutors assist tutees in gaining a clearer understanding of subject content through peer to peer guidance. Tutors will assist tutees individually and/or in a group based on need and volume of requests. Tutoring schedules are based upon agreement between tutor and tutee.  

Tutors must achieve an A or A- in a previous semester in the course(s) they wish to tutor.  Tutors must present a letter of recommendation from an instructor, preferably in the content area they would like to tutor in.  Also, tutors must be in good standing with Immaculata University.

Positions: Provide campus tours on a daily basis to all campus visitors, and participate in all Admissions-related events, including Open Houses, Accepted Students Days, Admission Information Sessions, and additional events outside of regularly scheduled shifts, including nights and weekends.

Job Description: As an office assistant, you will provide front desk coverage for the Bruder Center, which houses Health Services, the Counseling Center, and Career Development.  This position requires strong communication and customer service skills and the ability to work independently.

You will answer the phone, greet clients, make appointments, run errands, maintain bulletin boards, hang flyers and perform general office duties for three departments.  Availability to work shifts of two or more consecutive hours is preferred.  You must uphold the highest standard of confidentiality.
