Undergraduate Students

In addition to specific education requirements (see Education Department), students preparing for careers in high school biology teaching will complete all the requirements for the B.A. degree in biology.

Students seeking secondary education certification in biology will take Earth and Space Science in lieu of one of their biology electives.

Post-Baccalaureate Students

Students who currently hold degrees at or above the B.A. or B.S. levels and who wish to pursue careers in high school biology teaching should apply to the education department. The biology department will review all transcripts and outline an individual course of study that will satisfy all the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education for certification to teach biology.
