Fourteen members of the Immaculata University SIFE team along with Dr. Jacqueline Bull, Sam Walton, Fellow and IU business department professor, and Mrs. Lynnette Saar, IU business department administrative assistant, traveled May 11 through 13, 2010 to Minneapolis, MN, to participate in the SIFE National Exposition. SIFE invited this team to present their six completed projects at the exposition after their successful presentation at the Philadelphia SIFE regional competition held in Philadelphia, PA, last March.
Approximately 700 colleges/universities within the United States originally presented their projects to judges at SIFE regional competitions throughout the U.S. One hundred sixty-nine of these academe institutions were awarded regional acclaim to compete at the national exposition.
The IU SIFE students experienced the wonderful honor to be able to present completed projects, meet fellow SIFE members from other universities, and meet and be interviewed on site by representatives as well as top executives from SIFE supporting companies.
Two of our SIFE female members participated in a women’s top executive breakfast. A few other Immaculata SIFE members participated in a round table discussion with again, top company executives.
While in Minneapolis, Rebecca Whiteman spoke with representatives from Finish Line. Rebecca has started a summer internship with this company solely based on her Minneapolis contacts. Kevin Glenn was interviewed by company representatives and the Vice president of Human Resources for the northeastern division of Pepsico. Kevin is currently working with Pepsico this summer.
Christina Glantz is completing her second summer internship with Sealed Air Corporation. Christina’s first contact with Sealed Air was during the Philadelphia 2009 regional SIFE exposition. A representative from Sealed Air came to the Philadelphia IU SIFE presentation this year, and was also in Minneapolis as one of the national judges.
Local sponsors were generous to the IU SIFE team including the following:
