The B.S.N. Major at Immaculata
Immaculata's B.S.N. program prepares students academically, socially, and spiritually to practice within today's complex health care systems. Building on the liberal arts and sciences, the program prepares students to care for patients at all stages of life, from birth and childhood through adulthood and into the later phases of life.
More than a traditional nursing program, as a Catholic university, we incorporate strong values into our program, providing an environment that reinforces a sense of ethics, justice, and peace. You will leave the program with a strong sense of professional accountability and responsibility and openness to life-long learning. You will become part of a learning community that will assist you in becoming a leader in health care.
As part of the B.S.N. program, you will apply theory and practice your skills through working in a nursing simulation lab and participating in clinical experiences. The simulation lab replicates clinical events in a realistic setting, allowing you to problem solve and "think on your feet" in critical situations.
Clinical rotations provide hands-on experiences in a variety of nursing specialties:
-
Medical-surgical
-
Long-term and hospice care
-
Gerontology
-
Intensive care
-
Pediatrics
-
Maternity care
-
Emergency care
-
Psychiatric care
-
Rehabilitation
-
Community health
-
Drug and alcohol detoxification
In order to complete your clinical experiences, you will need to undergo drug screening, a criminal background check, and a child abuse clearance, along with any other requirements specified by the clinical agency. A nursing faculty member or a clinical preceptor will provide direct, on-site supervision for all clinical experiences.
