New Student Orientation

New student orientation chairs

Immaculata's New Student Orientation chair team is excited to welcome new and transfer students to the IU community! The NSO staff is hard at work preparing for the summer and fall programs!

New Student Orientation 2017: Your Time Starts Now!

Our orientation program will provide support as you transition to a vibrant, service-oriented community. Immaculata's professional staff in Academic Affairs and Student Development and Engagement, working together with a trained, enthusiastic student team, will provide services and support delivered in innovative, engaging, and fun ways.

Our program consists of two parts: the summer program and the fall program. During the summer program, you will come to campus to complete important academic processes and to meet your peers, advisors, and staff who will be supporting you. The fall program seeks to welcome and deeply connect all students to the community via intentional and informative programs and workshops.

Each program, although supported by professional staff, is student-driven—the chair team, pictured above, is the heart of the program and key to its implementation. Our orientation leaders and first-year mentors are trained peers who will engage with you throughout the summer and into the academic year, acclimating you to the history, traditions, and values that make the IU experience unique.

This year, our University theme is self-authorship. You will be encouraged to participate in programs and development opportunities that focus on the formation of values, personality, strengths, and standards that support your authentic self. At IU, we challenge students to think critically about their future and author their own path to excellence. As the NSO team says, “Your Time Starts Now!”

All deposited students should keep an eye out for the welcome packet—your tool kit to make the most of the IU experience. Welcome packets will be sent starting April 28th. Review the information carefully, and follow the instructions included to access MyIU and complete important information.
