Graduate Music Therapy Ambassador: Kristen LaPorte
Meet student ambassador Kristen LaPorte. Our ambassadors are exceptional students who have been selected by faculty to represent the Immaculata University graduate student experience.
Kristen is from Newark, DE and is currently in her second year of Immaculata’s M.A. in Music Therapy.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Music is the center of most of my interests, but I also enjoy reading, watching movies, and I am getting into golf!
What brought you here to Immaculata?
I was coming in with an undergraduate degree in music education, and the 60-credit program makes it very easy to go into the music therapy world by getting licensed and doing the master’s work at the same time. I was also really impressed by the faculty members. I feel that they really care about each and every one of their students and are so approachable.
What are your goals?
I would ideally love to have a few music therapy jobs where I can gain experience various areas of the field. I am completing my internship in a hospital setting, and I am really enjoying it. I could see myself maybe working in a hospital, but then also going into a nursing home one day a week or having a few individual clients. I love the flexibility of music therapy and the vast opportunities!
What has your experience been like at Immaculata?
I have loved my experience at Immaculata so far. The classes have been very informative, the professors have been wonderful, and I really feel like my classmates are lifelong friends and colleagues I will have with me as we move forward on the next steps of our journey!
