Immaculata University has a long tradition of preparing leaders in the field of nutrition. The Graduate Nutrition Education Department continues to meet this challenge by offering the M.A. degree in Nutrition Education with an ADA Dietetic Internship (45 credits).

The Dietetic Internship reflects the integration of the academic expertise of the university with the medical and dietetic expertise of health care facilities in the surrounding geographical area. The practice component of the internship is designed to respond to changes in the evolving profession of dietetics, to lead students to become translators of the theories and content of nutrition science to the public and other professionals, and to provide students with the opportunity to develop strong appropriate entry level dietetic performance skills.

The Internship can be completed full-time or part-time. The program begins in late August. Course requirements are GEN 502, NED 641, 645, 655, 659, 662, and 663 (21 credits). GEN 502, NED 641, 645 can be completed prior to acceptance into the Internship or concurrently.

The Internship includes 1200 hours of supervised practice in clinical, foodservice, and community rotations. Following the successful completion of the supervised practice portion of the internship, students will receive a verification statement confirming their eligibility to sit for the registration examination for dietitians (RD). Students may continue to enroll full or part-time to complete the master’s program.

Interested apllicants should review minimum qualifications and submit application materials by February 16, 2010.
