March Informational Letter - 2012 Commencement

March, 2012

Dear Prospective Graduate:

According to the university’s records, you are targeted to meet all requirements for graduation in May 2012.  Congratulations!  The entire Immaculata community looks forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with you.

The 88th commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 on the beautiful Back Campus of the University beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Graduates should report for line-up in The Great Hall beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Line-up begins promptly at 12:45 p.m.

Since graduates are called individually to the stage to receive their diplomas, it is necessary for us to know exactly which graduates will be present for the ceremony.  Once that is finalized, it can be determined how many tickets each graduate will receive for guests as seating is limited.

The Office of the Vice President for Student Development & Engagement is responsible for coordinating graduate participation and ticket distribution. Therefore, you must notify this office of your intention to participate, or not, in the ceremony. The number of guest tickets available per graduate cannot be determined until you return your response card to us.  The deadline for returning your response to Ms. Tracey Jester is Thursday, April 5, 2012.  Please remember to indicate on the response card whether you will or will not attend commencement.  If you misplace your commencement information packet you can view all of its contents on the Immaculata University website – Current Students – Commencement or the My IU Portal – Campus Life tab.

Tickets for under the tent will be distributed at the commencement rehearsal scheduled for

May 8, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Alumnae Hall Theater. Tickets will not be released to students with academic, financial, or library holds. Check-in will take place in the Large Gym beginning at 5:30 p.m. Updated information will also be posted on the commencement information link on the Immaculata University website and the MyIU portal.

All students who are graduating are assessed a Graduation Fee of $125.00.  August and January graduates were already assessed and should have paid the fee.  All students, whether you participate in the ceremony in May or not, are assessed the fee. This fee covers all services and materials including diplomas, printing, diploma casing, and your transcript audit.

Please review carefully the information we are including with this letter and refer to it when necessary. You may also consult the website or the MyIU portal for updates.  I look forward to working with you as you prepare for the receipt of your diploma.
