New Student Check-In

You are here

New student move-in day is August 21, 2015.

When you arrive on campus, please go directly to the Great Hall instead of your assigned residence hall. This process will take approximately ten minutes, and you will receive your key as well as other required important information.

If you are planning on having a car on campus during the academic year, please review the Parking Policy: Campus Safety and Protection Parking Permit Information.

After completing check-in, you will be directed to the best location to park to unload your belongings, or you will be given directions to your appropriate apartment. We request that you unload your belongings quickly and then relocate your car to the parking lot in order to open that space for your classmates who will also be moving in.

In order to ensure a smooth check-in as well as staff training, maintenance preparations, and other University events, it is not feasible to allow students to move in prior to that time. (If you are part of an intercollegiate athletic team, you will receive separate instructions.) In addition, residence hall rooms and apartments are in use throughout the summer and then undergo preparations for the fall, so touring your assigned room prior to check-in will not be possible.

The following specific reminders will assist in making your arrival on campus a smooth process. Campus offices referenced below can be reached by first dialing 610-647-4400, and then the extension listed.

  • Health Form and Meningitis Vaccination - These items must be in order before check-in; Pennsylvania law requires proof of meningitis vaccination or waiver, and we will not be able to allow any student into housing without this documentation. (Health Services ext. 3500)
  • Tuition Payment - You must have your student account paid up to date prior to check-in. For assistance with your financial aid package, please contact Financial Aid at ext. 3025. For questions regarding your bill or installment plan, please contact the Business Office at ext. 3174.

The University requests that you leave the following items at home as they are not permitted in housing:

  • Alcohol, illegal drugs, and related paraphernalia (including shot glasses)
  • Air conditioners
  • Candles/incense/potpourri
  • Dart boards
  • Flammable materials
  • Halogen lamps (NOTE: there is a desk lamp version)
  • Personal microwaves
    • *Please note – only students who rent a Microfridge through the Residence Life and Housing program are permitted to have a microwave in their residence hall assignment.*
    • Microfridge rentals that are ordered will have their unit delivered prior to moving in
  • Cooking appliances/grills
  • Nails/hooks/adhesives
  • Paintball guns/weapons
  • Pets/animals (other than those permitted in the University Policy Manual)
  • Space heaters/items with an open heating element
  • Water beds
  • Significant weight-bearing items
