    A new feature-length documentary from Irish American Films title, "The Cut: The Journey of the Men and Women of Duffy's Cut," will be screened at Immaculata University. A Q&A session will follow the film.

    The film is produced by Shawn Swords with William Watson, Ph.D., professor of History at IU, serving as historical consultant.

    Claudia Diaz, Madison Milano, and Erik Kivimäki from B Lab will speak on campus at this event, discussing the importance of B Corporations in today’s business world. B Lab is a nonprofit organization based in Berwyn, PA that certifies for-profit companies as ‘B Corporations’ after evaluating their impact on the environment, their workers, their customers, and their communities; these companies must also meet the highest standards of accountability and transparency. Quite simply, B Lab strives to create a global economy that uses business as a force for good.

    This event will showcase the quality of education and the wide scope of opportunities available to students in schools within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Students will present their talents, including: 

    • Academic displays of students' projects (religion projects, science fair displays, future cities displays, STREAM projects, binders of students' writings, videos of student presentations on laptops, robotics, etc.) 
    • Technology displays of student work, video clips of fine arts and media arts
    • Live performances by choirs, bands, hand bell choirs, dance groups, and theater groups

    All are welcome to attend.

    Immaculata University supports Catholic K-12 education by hosting events such as this archdiocesan showcase and by providing a variety of undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs.

    At this Empty Bowls event, you will receive a handcrafted bowl, one door prize raffle ticket, and a choice of soups, bread, desserts and beverages, donated by local restaurants. The cost is $20 for adults, $5 for students, and $40 for families. Proceeds from the event benefit the West Chester Food Cupboard.

    Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Enjoy a simple meal of bread and soup, and take home the empty bowl as a reminder of the many people, locally and globally, for whom an empty bowl at mealtime is a daily reality.
