Emergency Planning and Mangement Faculty

Instructors in Immaculata University’s Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Planning & Management (EPM) program are all professionals who have broad practical experience in various facets of public service, emergency management and homeland defense & security. Together, they represent the many diverse specialties that come together to prepare for and respond to emergencies and disasters. Our faculty are currently serving in such fields as:

  • Municipal, county, and federal emergency management
  • Fire service
  • Law enforcement
  • National Guard

In addition to their diverse backgrounds, all of our instructors have at least one graduate degree and experience working as online educators. They have completed numerous Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training courses and other specialized training, and several have other professional certifications, such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers, and Executive Fire Officer (EFO) from the U.S. Fire Administration.

The faculty are led by George Schwartz, Ed.D., chair of Immaculata's Professional Studies Department. Dr. Schwartz also serves as a Brigadier General in the Army National Guard and has extensive experience and training in emergency response, homeland defense, and national security. He has taught and written on such subjects as crisis leadership, cybersecurity, and emergency response planning.
