Bio: 

John Dragonetti received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Joseph’s University and a Master of Music degree from Combs College of Music. He was the owner, founder and director of Dragonetti Music Studios, Inc. (1975-2004), which was a full service retail music store and music school, including over 300 students and 15 instructors. In 2004, he retired from business and sold the store and school to Music and Arts Centers, Inc.   

Mr. Dragonetti has been an instructor of guitar and lecturer in music at Immaculata University since 1977. Between 1972 and 1992, he established and taught guitar programs at various elementary and secondary schools, including St. Pius X, St. Monica’s, Sts. Simon and Jude, Sacred Heart, St. Lawrence, St. Frances, St. Norbert’s, Villa Maria Academy, Upper Darby High School, and others. In the 1980s, Mr. Dragonetti was a member of Hal Leonard Publishing’s Guitar Method Advisory board, which was tasked with revising their guitar method. From 1977-1980, he was a manufacturer and designer for Renaissance Guitar Company in Malvern, Pennsylvania.   

Mr. Dragonetti has also been an avid performer since 1968. He has played professionally in various combinations doing club work, weddings and private parties (1968-2005). He has also performed as a soloist (classical and jazz/commercial guitar) for various private functions, and he has done freelance guitar work including big band, pit orchestra, small combination, and recording work (1972-present). Between 1988 and 2005, Mr. Dragonetti established and led a professional 6-8 piece wedding group, “The John Dragonetti Orchestra.” From 2007-2009, he performed classical guitar in various chamber concerts for the Delaware County Symphony.   

Mr. Dragonetti also enjoys composing. In 1982, he composed music for an original musical play, “Spirits Rising,” and in 1984, he composed, arranged, produced, performed and recorded an album of original material, “No Way to Have Fun.” He has been a private guitar instructor since 1969.
