Program Overview

A minor in history will help you develop a philosophy of life that recreates the past, where truth and opinion meet, to help explain the present and anticipate the challenges of the future. You will hone your skills in researh, critical thinking, analysis, and creative thought and action. A historical perspective contributes to active citizenship, legal awareness, and an appreciation of the global problems facing the world in the 21st century.

Program Highlights

  • Access to local history, such as Revolutionary War battlegrounds, and Philadelphia's many museums and resources
  • Opportunities to participate in archaeological digs and receive training in imaging sub-surface objects, cleaning and preserving artifacts, as well as understanding their historical context
  • Outside speakers on various topics in history and politics.  In recent years, Immaculata has hosted talks by several outstanding speakers, including historian John Lukacs and Pulitzer prize-winner David McCullough.
