Graduate Psychology - APA Accreditation

The Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology was awarded accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA as of April 29, 1999).  Following the American Psychological Association site visit in 2004 the Psy.D. Clinical program received a 7 year accreditation!
 
Some of the distinguishing program characteristics that contributed to the awarding of APA accreditation were:

• Quality of full-time faculty as professional psychologists and role models
• Quality of students and of faculty-student relations
• Institutional support for the Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology
• Student-centered and supportive learning climate
• Addition of full-time faculty at regular intervals
• Integration of Field Site Coordinator and Predoctoral Internship Coordinator into full-time positions
• Addition of Assistant to Field Site Coordinator
• Quality of field sites and their management
• Quality of program publications, including Psy.D. and Dissertation Handbooks
• Flexible options for completion of doctoral dissertation
• Admissions process that takes multiple factors into consideration
• Ongoing enhancement of library holdings and state-of-art library technology
• Quality and rigor of course content, including integration of human diversity throughout curriculum
• Use of external program consultants in the areas of education, training and program diversity
• Quality of adjunct faculty
• Program review of faculty, students and internal self-study
