Dr. Edward Jenny earned his B.A. in classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990, his M.Ed. in school counseling from the University of Delaware in 1994, and his Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Immaculata University in 2003 at which time he joined the Department of Graduate Psychology.
Dr. Jenny is a licensed psychologist, a licensed professional counselor and a Pennsylvania certified school counselor. He serves as the faculty adviser to school counseling certification students. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Jenny was the director of student assistance services for the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District. Dr. Jenny has also worked as a supervisor and therapist in community mental health and wrap-around services. He maintains a small private practice treating adolescents and adults.
Dr. Jenny's doctoral dissertation, for which he was awarded the Philadelphia Society of Psychoanalytic Psychologists Dissertation Award in 2004, explored the role of object relations, as measured by the Rorschach inkblot method, in the formation of a therapeutic alliance with adolescents in partial hospitalization.
Dr. Jenny completed an APA-approved internship at Friends Hospital in Philadelphia where he worked in a psychiatric emergency room performing evaluations as well as working on an acute unit with psychotic patients. Dr. Jenny also completed rotations in geropsychiatry and general adult psychiatriatic inpatient care. Dr. Jenny completed his post-doctoral training in modern psychoanalysis at the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis where he has continued his training toward certification as a psychoanalyst.
Dr. Jenny's research interests include psychoanalytic psychotherapy, ethics and professional issues, adolescent psychopathology and assessment, personality assessment, history of psychology and group psychotherapy.
