Teaching Philosophy:

As a faculty member in Immaculata University’s Graduate Psychology and Counseling Department, I approach teaching in a manner that serves to maximize students’ interest, and I encourage students to play an active and equal role in their learning. My goal is to foster an environment that is interactive and collaborative, where thinking critically and creatively is encouraged. I utilize my clinical experience to help bring life to the course content, and help students transition from simply acquiring and memorizing information, to developing a profound understanding of how the course material applies to the professional world of clinical psychology.

Dr. Vitagliano received her doctorate in clinical psychology from LaSalle University, and she is a licensed psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania. She completed an internship through Immaculata University’s Pre-doctoral Internship Consortium, where she trained at Upper Bay Counseling and Support Services, an outpatient community mental health center.  She completed her post-doctoral training at Upper Bay Counseling and Support Services, focusing on psychotherapy and psychological testing with adults and adolescents.

Dr. Vitagliano has worked in a variety of clinical settings. She trained at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she provided assessments and manualized treatment for children presenting with symptoms consistent with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.  She has also provided psychotherapy to students with Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Vitagliano maintains her clinical work in private practice part time, providing individual psychotherapy and diagnostic evaluations for adults, adolescents and children.

Dr. Vitagliano is primarily trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and holds a special interest in mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches to treatment.
