Program Overview

Earn a career-focused degree in fashion, tailored to fit you. Immaculata takes your professional development seriously. During each year of your studies, you’ll gain exposure to the fashion industry and participate in it in order to be ready for your career.

Program Highlights

First Year Experience: The Fashion program’s comprehensive speaker series will give you insight into various career paths and help you make connections with professionals in the industry.

Sophomore Year Review: You will present your career goals, both short- and long-term, to your advisor. He or she will work with you to determine career pathways based on your personal interests, goals and unique set of strengths.

Junior Field Experiences: You will complete two field experiences, which will be aligned with your chosen career path to help you gain hands-on experience. Our students have recently been placed at QVCAnthropologieNordstromBeauty Within TV, Bouché Productions, Dorfman-Pacific Showroom in New York City, Macy’, JC Penney, Showroom Seven, GAP, Talbots, Ann Taylor Loft, People’s Light and TheaterFrey Boutique, Bootights, and more.

Senior Industry Project: You will be assigned a real-world project with an emerging brand. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Analyze and research trends related to your company
  • Effectively present and communicate the business strategy
  • Assess the company’s target market, market position and brand strategy
  • Create solutions to the company’s specific challenges and enhance brand strategy
  • Develop leadership and managerial skills

The courses in the program are carefully sequenced and updated as the industry changes. The program provides a dynamic, customizable curriculum with eight minors that help you specialize in an area specific to your career path.

  • Buying: You’ll learn how to develop a merchandise assortment plan that includes planning sales, stock levels, and inventory turn.
  • Visual Merchandising:  You will plan, design and install various displays and styling concepts understanding key design elements and principles, retail and marketing strategy and brand image within the context of relevant business applications.
  • Product Development:  You will learn about garment construction and production techniques, and you will be able manage the product development process with the supply chain.
  • Graphic Design for Fashion:  You will produce clear and cohesive solutions to design problems in a variety of media.
  • Entrepreneurship:  You will be able to develop a business plan for a sustainable fashion-related entrepreneurial venture.
  • Marketing:  You will learn how to develop a marketing plan considering consumer motivation and behavior as it relates to various brands.
  • Communication: You will present your ideas (writing, visual, virtual) in a comprehensive way that will motivate your audience to action.
  • Public Relations & Journalism: You will be able to research, plan, and implement a PR campaign that is clear, concise and engaging with a working knowledge of a variety of PR tactics in written, audio, video, web and social media.
