Vision Statement

The Division of Education will foster academic excellence and professional preparation through instruction, programs, and research. Our outstanding faculty provide individual attention to our students, both on and off campus, and we maintain our commitment to those schools/districts with whom we partner.

Student Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the Education Leadership Program in the Instructional or ESL Tracks, students will be able to:

  1. Identify the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of the specific discipline to be taught
  2. Understand how students learn and develop and plan learning opportunities to support their development through good instructional planning, effective learning environments, a variety of teaching strategies, and appropriate assessment tools
  3. Create opportunities that foster the achievement of diverse learners in an inclusive classroom by encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation
