Madeira has 23 years of experience teaching elementary and middle school special education students. She has taught as an adjunct professor for more than ten years, and she has another ten years of experience as an assistant principal and elementary school principal. "From the first day I started my career in education, I have always loved teaching," she says. "There is nothing more that I would like to do than focus all my energies on preparing students to successfully educate all children in inclusive settings."
As the principal at Ithan Elementary School in Radnor Township School District for five years, she coordinated the new elementary schedule, report cards, and statewide PSSA tests. She served on the district technology committee and participated in the Aligning Curriculum and Technology Standards (ACTS) grant, developing a process for analyzing elementary data. During her three years as principal at Conshohocken Elementary School, her school surpassed its goals for PSSA reading and math scores. She was the Colonial School District's English language learning program director, developing a handbook and program procedures. She also developed a school policy on bullying, oversaw the technology department, and handled all incentive programs as the assistant principal at Keith Valley Middle School.
Madeira is certified as an elementary school teacher, elementary school principal, special education teacher, and special education supervisor. She is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Association for Elementary School Principals, and the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators.
