Education - Certification Requirements

To become eligible for teacher certification from Immaculata University the student must:

  • maintain a minimum of a 3.0 overall GPA
  • maintain at least a B average in the specific content area of certification
  • achieve a minimum grade of B- in every course taken in the professional sequence
  • maintain a minimum of a B average in the professional sequence
  • attain a grade minimum of a B in his/her student teaching experience
  • attain at least the criterion level of "3" [i.e., good] for each of the competency areas on the checklist of the professional sequence
  • present evidence of having passed the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Prescribed Testing Program.


Important: All students (undergraduate and graduate) applying for teacher certification from Immaculata University must show evidence of completion of:

  • PSY 324 Developmental Psychology
  • 6 credits of mathematics
  • 6 credits of English (composition and literature)
