The Chemistry Department offers a variety of programs to meet your academic needs and varied interests. The programs provide academic rigor, fulfill liberal arts requirements, and allow you to study in areas that are of interest to you.
Scholarships are available for community college students interested in a bachelor's degree in chemistry. For more information, please visit Immaculata's STEM Scholars Program.
The department offers a B.S. and a B.A. in chemistry that prepare you to pursue a career in research or industry, undertake graduate studies, or seek admission to a professional school. You may choose to double major and earn a B.A. in chemistry and a B.A. in Biology. If you want to be a chemist and work in areas such as pharmaceutical sales, computer modeling, scientific writing, and protocol/policy review, consider getting a B.A. in chemistry with a minor in business or IT.
If you're interested in teaching high school chemistry, pursue the B.A. in chemistry with secondary education certification, This program provides students with a rigorous background in chemistry along with the required education courses to meet the certification requirements in the state of Pennsylvania and to prepare them to take the PRAXIS exams.
The chemistry minor broadens your knowledge outside of your major field and makes you more marketable upon graduation.
