The students of the FYE class will spend one morning providing service in the local community. Transportation, t-shirts, and lunch will be provided. Students will meet for this event at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 27th, 2011 in the Alumnae Theater. Attendance is required for all FYE Students.

Cruisin’ Not Boozin’
Cruisin’ Not Boozin’ is an alcohol and drunken driving awareness program out of Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital. Young speakers affected by drunk driving talk to audiences about the dangers of drinking or using drugs while driving. They share their earlier lives as teenagers, their fateful accidents, and their painful and long journeys through recovery. Cruizin’ Not Boozin’ is a sobering experience that brings people face to face with the consequences of driving under the influence. This event will take place at 1:30 PM on Thursday, September 29th, 2011, and attendance is required for all FYE students.

Falling Whistles
Falling Whistles is a campaign for peace in the Congo, where the world’s largest ongoing war has gone unnoticed for years. Originally starting as a journal about young boys sent to the frontlines armed only with a whistle, the campaign spread nationwide. The organization partners with local leaders to bring awareness and raise money for children affected by the war in Congo. More information about this organization and its mission can be found at www.fallingwhistles.com. This event will take place at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 in the Alumnae Hall Theater. Attendance is required for all FYE students.
