New to Academic Accommodations
Welcome! The first thing you need to do when you come to Immaculata University is register with the Academic Success Center for academic accommodations, preferably during the summer before classes start.
- Complete the online intake form.
- Schedule a meeting with the Academic Success Center staff.
- Be prepared to provide documentation.
- Pick up your Accommodation Letter at the ASC or have them emailed to you as a PDF.
- Meet with your professors.
- Register online every semester.
Step 1: Complete the online intake form.
Completing the online intake form creates a few minutes. Be sure to fill out the intake form yourself and complete it thoroughly and accurately. Explain in your own words what your disability is and how it affects you. The intake form helps determine what kind of reasonable accommodations you might be able to receive at Immaculata.
Step 2: Schedule a meeting with the Academic Success Center staff.
A member of the Academic Success Center staff will contact you after receiving your online intake form. Make an appointment to come to the Academic Success Center, which could take up to an hour. Bring a list of questions, and be prepared to talk about your disability and how it affects your learning and your ability to participate in Immaculata programs. Parents or guardians are welcome to participate but the student must be present.

Step 3: Be prepared to provide documentation.
If you are requesting accommodations, you must provide supporting documentation of your disability (also referred to as third party documentation). Third party documentation may consist of an IEP/504 plan, recent diagnostic evaluation, or a letter from a qualified professional that explains more about your disability and how your disability impacts your participation in University programs. Step 4: Pick up your Accommodation Letter at the ASC or have them emailed to you as a PDF.
A member of the Academic Success Center staff will contact you via your Immaculata University email when your Accommodation Letter is available. Accommodations will not be administered until the letter is received by the student.
Step 5: Meet with your professors.
Before classes start, set up appointments to meet with your professors, preferably during their office hours or after your first class. Present each professor with an Accommodation Letter. Then develop a plan for the semester. If you’ve been approved to receive exam accommodations and wish to take exams in our distraction free testing room, complete the Accommodated Test Request Form two weeks in advance so your professors can be contacted by the Academic Success Center on your behalf.
Step 6: Register online every semester.
Once you have received accommodations for your first semester, you can quickly and easily register for accommodations online for all following semesters. Each semester you will need to meet with all of your professors and present your Accommodation Letter. Register as a returning student.
