The Immaculata University Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program received a five year accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Five
years is the maximum a new program may receive.

Renay Oberholtzer, an Immaculata University RN-BSN
student, is a recipient of the Paradigm Scholarship for Working
Woman. She receives a $5,000 scholarship to support her

MSN Faculty-Student Spring Gathering
On Wednesday April 11, 2007, Immaculata University ’s DON undergraduate and
graduate faculty gathered with MSN students for conversation, advisement, and dinner.

Dr. Jane Tang, Assistant Professor of Nursing, is the 2007 selected recipient of the Lindback Foundation Career Enhancement Minority Junior Faculty Grant . This grant will support her research entitled, “WorkFamily Policies: Relationship to Job Satisfaction and Intent to Stay Among Hospital Nurses”.

August 2007

Basic Parish Nurse Curriculum
The Department of Nursing is an educational affiliate/partner with the International Parish Nurse Resource Center (IPNRC). From August 5-8, 2007, nursing faculty attended the faculty preparation course in St. Louis, MO. As an educational affiliate/partner the Department of Nursing may educate parish nurses in accordance with the IPNRC-sponsored Basic Parish Nurse Preparation Curriculum. The basic parish nurse preparation curriculum is open to non-nurses as well.

IU RN-BSN student published in the Journal of Emergency Nursing

Alina Kiljanski, an Immaculata University RN-BSN
student, co-authored an article entitled, “An informal discussion of emergency nurses' current clinical practice: What's new and what works ”, in the Journal of Emergency Nursing, October, 2007.

Fall Break Service Trip

October 12-14 nursing faculty gave service at the Romero Center, Camden, NJ. http://www.romero-center.org/index.htm. Health promotion topics, trends in long-term care of elders, and holistic modalities were discussed with the Abigail House for Nursing and Rehabilitaion LLC staff.

2007-2008 Independence Blue Cross Nurse Scholarship Awards

MSN graduate students: Darla Davidson, Lisa Halpin, Cristina Tansey, and Patricia Shaner-Christy received scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year.  Congratulations!              

Geriatric Nursing Education Consortium
Ms. Gail Lehner and Dr. Jane Tang, nursing faculty at Immaculata University, have been selected to participate in the Geriatric Nursing Education Consortium (GNEC) training Institute scheduled for October 3-5, 2007 in Atlanta, GA. The GNEC, administered by American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), is a national initiative to enhance geriatric content in senior-level baccalaureate courses. Using the “train the trainer” approach, nursing faculty attending the GNEC institutes are expected to serve as leaders and mentors by sharing their new expertise with colleagues. The John A. Hartford Foundation generously funds this program.
