Music Therapy has gained serious national attention over the past four decades. Music therapists strive to assess the needs of their clients and design a musical regimen based on those needs. This therapy helps people with any number of challenges such as Autism, Down's syndrome, emotional, mental or physical handicaps, and brain injuries. Therapists use melodies, rhythms, accompaniments, etc. to encourage communication, self-expression, rehabilitative goals and to motivate. Methods of treatment depend on each patient's individual needs.

Preparation for the Board Certification Examination in Music Therapy (B.C.) is accomplished as part of the Music Therapy degree program at Immaculata University. Graduates of this program enter the field ready to meet the challenges music therapists embrace with enthusiasm and competence every day.
