Department Awards
Music Scholarships
Effective Fall 2007, music scholarships will be available again to music major students who, after a successful audition, are judged to have exceptional musical talent and potential for musical achievement. These awards are renewable annually provided the recipient meets expected standards of musical achievement and service responsibilities to the university.
Special Awards
The Rocco N. and Sara J. Borrelli Award
This monetary award honors a senior or junior student who has given evidence of musical growth particularly in performance during collegiate study.
The Almira Doutt Memorial Award
This award is made in the form of scholarship to a music major who, having proved to be an accomplished musician and a good student, has financial need. First, second or third year qualified students may apply
The Anne Gallagher Award
Awarded in memory of an alumna of the Music Department, the recipient of this award is recognized for her promise as a music educator and also for contributions in the area of liturgical music.
The Cheryl Thatcher Award
Awarded in memory of Cheryl Thatcher, this award is given to an undergraduate or CLL student in Music Therapy who demonstrates outstanding musical accomplishment.
The Pi Kappa Lambda Applied Music (Harpsichord) Scholarship
This award is given by the Immaculata chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda (Delta Psi) to a students whose musical and academic work is outstanding and is interested in an applied music scholarship to study the Harpsichord.
Department of Music Applied Music (Organ) Scholarship
This applied Organ Scholarship is awarded to a talented and deserving student wishing to pursue additional applied study in Organ.
The Immaculata Symphony Scholarship
This renerwable four-year scholarship is awarded to a deserving orchestral student (preference in strings) who is recommended by the Music Department with approval from the Immaculata Symphony Board of Directors.
The Rev. William Campbell Music Medal
This medal is usually presented to the graduating major in the College of Undergraduate Studies having the highest GPA in music courses. However, the department faculty enjoys the prerogative of awarding the medal at times to a music major who, in addition to high achievement in music courses, has attained extraordinary levels of excellence in performance.
Eugene Buglio Music Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming Freshman orchestral major, with preference given to string majors, who enrolls as a performing member of the Immaculata Symphony. The student will be selected by Eugene Buglio based on recommendations made by the Chair of the Music Department.
Taylor's Music Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to incoming Freshman instrumental majors who have exceptional musical talent. Preference will be give to Pennsylvania residents with out-of-state students considered on a case by case basis. The recipient(s) will be selected by the President of Taylor's Music based on recommendations made by the Chair of the Music Department.
Immaculata Vocal Music Scholarship
This scholarship will be awared to an incoming Freshman vocal major who has exceptional musical talent. The recipient will be selected by the anonymous donor with recommendations made by the Chair of the Music Department.
