General Degree Requirements
The following are desirable standards for the student to demonstrate for retention in the program:
- be in good physical and mental health
- demonstrate emotional maturity
- have a scholastic record of a 3.0 GPA or above
- possess adequate standards of spoken and written English
- secure the recommendation of the chair of the major department in which they are registered
Students who desire to teach make application in the second semester of their sophomore year. The program requires the student to:
- evidence of interest in children and how they learn
- effective teaching personality
- demonstrated teaching competence
- indication of professional growth
- maintenance of at least a B average in his/her major area
- maintenance of at least a B average in his/her professional sequence
- attain no less than a grade of B- in any course in the professional sequence
