Welcome
In June 1998, through an Extramural Associate Research Development Award (EARDA) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Immaculata College established its Office of Sponsored Research.
By the completion of the original grant in December 2000, faculty and students had embraced the new opportunities and made impressive strides toward the institutionalization of research. Thirty-six small faculty-mentored research projects in the biomedical and behavioral sciences were completed by December 2004 in addition to six studies in globalization. Faculty mentors encourage presentation at local, regional, and national conferences and and writing for juried publications. Since spring 1999, undergraduate students have earned recognition and awards at all levels. Two students and their mentors have presented at the Council on Undergraduate Research's "Posters on the Hill" in Washington, D. C.
The office provides help in finding sources of funding, training sessions in grant preparation, review and oversight of pilot grants, review of proposals for submission to external agencies, books and resources for grant research, writing, and management to faculty and students in all disciplines and at all levels. Memberships to grant opportunity newsletters offer daily information to faculty on current opportunities.
