Mighty Macs Fall In Season Finale
Immaculata University women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Philadelphia Biblical University on Tuesday, October 23, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. It was the season finale for the Mighty Macs.
The Crimson Eagles scored quickly as Summer Mullen scored off a corner kick at 1:44. Rachel Kirkner pushed Philly Bible's lead to 2-0 at 9:22. The Crimson Eagles tallied their third goal just 1:27 later, when Alexa Hays scored off an assist from Brittany Sparling at 10:49.
Freshman Colleen Jennings ended the scoreless drought for Immaculata with a tally at 34:14 off a pass from freshman Jena Murtaugh. Jennings added her second of the game at 56:13 off an assist from Erica Lyons.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo collected seven saves for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata finishes the 2007 season with a record of 9-9 overall and a mark of 3-7 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC). With their nine victories, the Mighty Macs surpass their win total from last season (7-13).
Jennings Selected To PAC Weekly Honor Roll
Freshman Colleen Jennings was selected to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Weekly Honor Roll for women's soccer for the week ending October 21. It was the third time this season she has earned the distinction.
Jennings totaled four goals and two assists in a 1-2 week for the Mighty Macs. She recorded amassed two goals and two assists in an 11-0 victory over Valley Forge Christian College on Monday, October 15, and added two goals in a loss to Centenary College on Saturday, October 20.
For the year, Jennings leads the team in goals (13), assists (6) and points (32).
Cyclones Upend Mighty Macs
Immaculata University women’s soccer team dropped a 5-2 decision to Centenary College in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, October 20, in Hackettstown, New Jersey.
Freshman Colleen Jennings scored both goals for the Mighty Macs, while fellow freshman Erica Lyons assisted on those goals. Tanya DiDonna scored four of the Cyclones' five goals, including the game-winner. Melanie Pupo also tallied a goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo collected 13 saves for Immaculata, while Coree Reuter recorded two for Centenary.
The Cyclones outshot Mighty Macs 23-8 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata returns to action on Tuesday, October 23, when they travel to face Philadelphia Biblical University. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Immaculata Falls To Eastern
Immaculata University women's soccer team fell to Eastern University in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, October 17, in Draper Walsh Stadium. It was the final home game of the regular season for the Mighty Macs.
Freshman Megan Gallagher scored the only goal for Immaculata off a corner kick from freshman Stefanie Karmondy at 75:34. Gallagher received the corner kick and slipped it past two defenders into the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Kristin Watson and Kara Neef each scored two goals, while Ashley Hackman amassed two goals and one assist for the Eagles (13-3, 9-0 PAC).
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo collected 10 saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, October 20, when they travel to face Centenary College. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
Mighty Macs Post Second Straight Victory
Immaculata University women's soccer team defeated Valley Forge Christian College 11-0, in non-conference action on Monday, October 15, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
Senior Kelli Ortega registered a hat trick and added one assist, while freshman Colleen Jennings amassed two goals and two assists. Freshman Megan Gallagher recorded her first career goal, while fellow freshman Traci Farrell and senior Charlene Henry each totaled one goal and one assist.
Junior Missy Hopely, sophomore Ashley McMullen and freshman Erica Lyons each collected one goal, while freshman Stefanie Karamondy posted one assist.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo tallied her second consecutive shutout and fifth on the season.
Immaculata (9-6) returns to action on Wednesday, October 17, when they host Eastern University in the final home game of the 2007 season. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.

Freshman Colleen Jennings recorded a hat trick and two assists, while freshman Alysia Remaley collected two goals, including the game-winner. Junior Missy Hopely garnered a goal and two assists in the win for the Mighty Macs. Senior Kelli Ortega, sophomore Ashley McMullen and freshmen Erica Lyons and Jena Murtaugh registered one goal apiece. Freshmen Megan Gallagher and Traci Farrell each added one assist.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo totaled three saves and posted her fourth shutout of the season.
Immaculata (8-6) outshot the Chargers 18-3 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Immaculata Falls To Alvernia
Immaculata University women's soccer team fell to Alvernia College 6-1 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, October 6, in Reading, PA.
Freshman Alysia Remaley scored the only goal for the Mighty Macs off an assist from fellow freshman Colleen Jennings. The Crusaders' Brandi Light recorded a hat trick and added an assist in the win.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo collected 11 saves, while Laura-Beth Diggs recorded three saves.
Alvernia outshot Immaculata 24-6 and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Take The Bite Out Of The Gators
Freshman Colleen Jennings recorded a hat trick as Immaculata University defeated the College of Notre Dame 6-1, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action in Baltimore, Maryland.
Jennings scored the first of her three goals at 3:34 off an assist from freshman Traci Farrell. Freshman Eric Lyons pushed the lead to 2-0 - on the eventual game-winner - at 20:19 off a pass from senior Kelli Ortega. Jennings added one more before halftime at 25:59. Farrell assisted on that goal as well.
The second half began the same way the first half ended, with a goal by Jennings. Lyons assisted on the goal at 52:50. Sarah McCutcheon thwarted the Mighty Macs attempt at a shutout with an unassisted goal at 53:38. Oretga off an assist from freshman Stefanie Karmondy at 64:37 and junior Leila Wulderk from freshman Alysia Remaley at 83:52 closed the scoring for Immaculata (7-5, 3-4 PAC).
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo collected five saves in the win. The Mighty Macs outshot the Gators 29-11 and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Immaculata Falls To Neumann College
Immaculata University women's soccer team fell to Neumann College 2-1, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Thursday, September 27, in Aston, PA.
The Knights' Casey Geary scored at 34:07 to open the scoring off an assist from Brittany Barley. The Mighty Macs tied the game at 1-1 when freshman Colleen Jennings found the back of the net off an assist freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo at 56:42. However, Barley answered for Neumann and tallied the unassisted game-winner at 74:50.
Gaburo recorded six saves for Immaculata, while Caitlin Agnew amassed five saves for the Knights.
Neumann outshot the Mighty Macs 12-11, but Immaculata held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Mighty Macs (6-5, 2-4) return to action on Monday, October 1, when they travel to face the College of Notre Dame. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Cavaliers Slip Past Mighty Macs
Immaculata University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Cabrini College, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Monday, September 24, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
The Cavaliers jumped on the board quickly when Corinne Szymczak threaded a pass to Chrissy Regan at 1:26. It stayed 1-0 until freshman Traci Farrell tied the score with an unassisted goal at 45:53.
However, Cabrini broke the tie at 71:01 when Sabina DeGisi found the back of the net from Annmaire Kolla. They added an insurance goal at 86:04. Collette Walsh scored off an assist from DeGisi.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo collected 11 saves in the loss, while Cheyenne White recorded five saves.
The Cavaliers (4-4, 2-1 PAC) outshot the Mighty Macs 17-12 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata (6-4, 2-3 PAC) returns to action on Thursday, September 27, when they travel to face Neumann College. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Immaculata Snaps Losing Skid; Defeats Cedar Crest
Immaculata University women’s soccer team defeated Cedar Crest College 4-1, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, September 22, in Draper Walsh Stadium. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Mighty Macs.
The Falcons (2-6, 0-3 PAC) did not take long to get on the board as Tatiana Ballreich scored an unassisted goal at 43:53. The Mighty Macs responded and tied the game at 1-1 when freshman Traci Farrell scored off an assist from fellow freshman Alysia Remaley at 31:44. Sophomore Ashley McMullen broke the tie, with the eventual game-winner at 9:56, when she found the back of the net off a pass from Farrell.
The Mighty Macs added an insurance goal at 56:06 when freshman Colleen Jennings scored off a breakaway. Senior Charlene Henry put the game away with a goal at 57:20 off an assist from senior Kelli Ortega.
Immaculata outshot Cedar Crest 17-3 and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Fall To Marywood
Immaculata University women's soccer team fell to Marywood University 3-0 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, September 19, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Annie McDonald scored the game-winner at 21:55 as her shot bounced off freshman goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo and into the net. Meghan Brown tallied the final two goals for the Pacers (6-1, 2-0 PAC).
Senior Kelli Ortega and freshman Colleen Jennings each recorded two shots for the Mighty Macs (5-3, 1-2 PAC). Gaburo collected 10 saves for Immaculata.
Marywood outshot the Mighty Macs 18-7 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, September 22, when they host Cedar Crest College. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
Immaculata Drops Second Straight Game
Immaculata University women’s soccer team dropped its second straight game with a 5-0 loss to Delaware Valley College 5-0 in non-conference action on Monday, September 17, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Elise Dauber scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Elise Carpernter also recorded two goals. Dauber assisted on one of her goals. Junior Missy Hopely paced the Mighty Macs with two shots.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo collected one save between the pipes for Immaculata, while Cortney Bower registered four saves.

Immaculata Suffers First Loss Of The Season
Immaculata University women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2007 season as Misericordia University posted a 4-1 victory in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, September 15, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Freshman Erica Lyons scored the lone goal for the Mighty Macs off a direct kick. Her teardrop of a shot tied the game 1-1 at 20:43. The Cougars struck first as Kim Suchoski tallied an unassisted goal at 7:53. Misericordia took a 2-1 lead into intermission as Brittany Brouse found the back of the net off a pass from Katie Shaner at 38:46. The Cougars tacked on two more in the second half to halt Immaculata's winning streak at five.
Sophomore Jessica Gaburo collected 16 saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs. Jemila Najjar-Keith registered four saves for the Cougars.
Misericordia outshot Immaculata 27-7 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Mighty Macs (5-1, 1-1 PAC) return to action on Monday, September 17, when they host Delaware Valley College. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Mighty Macs Extend Shutout Streak; Off To The Best Start In School History
Senior Kelli Ortega tallied the game-winning goal as Immaculata University defeated Gwynedd-Mercy College 1-0 in women's soccer action on Thursday, September 13, in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania. It was the conference opener for both schools.
The Mighty Macs, off to their best start in school history, improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC). Ortega recorded the only goal at 80:05 off the foot of freshman Colleen Jennings. It was her second game-winning goal of the season.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo collected 10 saves, including one on a penalty kick in the first half, and kept the Griffins off the board to improve Immaculata's shutout streak to 347:00. The shutout also lowered Gaburo's goals against average (GAA) to 0.60. Kristie Pollock registered seven saves in the loss for Gwynedd-Mercy.
The Mighty Macs outshot the Griffins10-8, but Gwynedd-Mercy held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
"This team has great goalkeeping and defense and the midfield and attack are beginning to play together," said head coach Fran Tacconelli. "With a team as young as ours (Immaculata starts eight freshmen), the beginning of the season has been a pleasant surprise. Every time we step onto the field we expect to perform well and so far we have been able to prove it."
They will try to prove it again on Saturday, September 15, when they host the 2006 defending PAC champion Misericordia University. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
Immaculata Records Second Straight Shutout
Immaculata University women's soccer team defeated Penn State - Berks 3-0 to post its second consecutive shutout on Monday, September 10, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
The Mighty Macs (4-0) jumped on the board early when freshman Rebecca Whiteman scored at 5:21 off a pass from fellow freshman Traci Farrell. Immaculata took a 2-0 halftime lead when junior Missy Hopely headed a beautiful pass form junior Leila Wulderk into the back of the net at 43:38. The Mighty Macs added an insurance goal at 83:35 when sophomore Christina Guerrieri scored from senior Kelli Ortega and freshman Erica Lyons.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo collected one save as Immaculata improved its scoreless streak to 257:00. Jackie Shum registered 11 saves between the pipes for the Nittany Lions.
The Mighty Macs outshot Penn State - Berks 27-2 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata returns to action on Thursday, September 13, when they travel to face Gwynedd-Mercy College. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Immaculata Continues Its Winning Ways
Immaculata University women's soccer team posted its third straight victory to open the 2007 season with a 1-0 win over Albright College on Wednesday, September 5, in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Senior Kelli Ortega scored the only goal of the game off a breakaway at 42:40. After being held without a shot (8-0) in the first half, the Mighty Macs responded by outshooting the Lions 5-1 in the second half, including the game-winner by Ortega.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo recorded six saves en route to her first career shutout.
Albright outshot Immaculata 9-5, but the Mighty Macs held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata (3-0) returns to action on Monday, September 10, when they host Penn State - Berks in its home opener. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Mighty Macs Take Bryn Mawr College Invitational
Freshman Colleen Jennings' goal at 60:13 propelled Immaculata University to a 2-1 victory over Goucher College to capture the Bryn Mawr College Invitational on Sunday, September 2, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
The Mighty Macs defeated host Bryn Mawr 3-2 on Saturday to advance to the championship game.
Immaculata struck first on an own goal at 7:30, but Goucher tied the game at 1-1 when Bri Girard found the back of the net at 12:59. It stayed tied until Jennings scored the game-winner at 60:13.
Immaculata outshot the Gophers 22-3 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo recorded one save between the pipes for the Mighty Macs, while Kellen Matthews collected 15 saves.
For their efforts, freshmen Traci Farrell, Michelle Meyer, Erica Lyons, and Jennings were named to the Bryn Mawr College Invitational All-Tournament team.
Immaculata returns to action on Wednesday, September 5, when they travel to face Albright College. Kick-off is set for 5 pm.
Immaculata Wins Season Opener
Freshman Stefanie Karmondy scored the game-winning goal as the Immaculata University women's soccer team defeated Bryn Mawr College 3-2 on Saturday, September 1, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Karmondy's goal, off a pass from sophomore Christina Guerrieri, at 80:15 broke a 2-2 tie and propelled the Mighty Macs to the Bryn Mawr College Invitational Championship match. The match will be held on Sunday, September 2, at 2:30 pm.
Immaculata scored the first goal of the season, for both squads, as freshman Erica Lyons, one of eight who started for the Mighty Macs, scored off an assist from fellow freshman Colleen Jennings.
The Owls bounced back and tied the game at 1-1 with a goal by Wallis Romzek from Kat Wing at 20:28. Bryn Mawr took a 2-1 lead into intermission when Emily Wiseman tallied an unassisted goal at 26:14. Immaculata was able to tie the game at 2-2 when Guerrieri found back the back of the net at 72:53. Lyons assisted on that goal.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo recorded eight saves on her way to her first win of the season, while Collette Pullion registered 11 saves between the pipes for the Owls.
The Mighty Macs will face the winner Goucher College in the championship.
Mighty Macs Slated To Finish 10th
Immaculata University's women's soccer team has been selected to finish 10th in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) pre-season poll. The poll was released on Thursday, August 30, by the conference office in Aston, PA.
The Mighty Macs are slated to place 10th in the 11-team conference.
Eastern University was selected as the pre-season favorite. The Eagles received seven of the 11 first-place votes for a total of 117 points. Misericordia University placed second with two first-place votes and 109 points, while Cabrini College finished third with 101 points. The Cavaliers also received two first-place votes.
Gwynedd-Mercy College (82) and Marywood University University (80) rounded out the top-five.
Centenary College (58), Alvernia College (53), College of Notre Dame (42), Neumann College (40), and Cedar Crest College (17) were selected sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and 11th, respectively.
The Mighty Macs open the 2007 season at the Bryn Mawr College Invitational on Saturday, September 1. The Mighty Macs will face the host Owls at 12 pm. The invitational continues on Sunday, September 2. The consolation is set for 12 pm, while the championship match will begin at 2:30 pm.
Kelli Ortega Named To PAC Honor Roll
Sophomore Kelli Ortega has been named to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Soccer Honor Roll for the week ending October 30.
Ortega scored three goals, in the 5-0 victory over Penn State - Univerity Berks on October 28. She helped lead the Mighty Macs to wins in four of their last five games. Ortega finished tied for the team lead in scoring with 21 points (10G, 1A).
Mighty Macs Win Season Finale
Sophomore Kelli Ortega's hat trick propelled Immaculata University to a 5-0 win in women's soccer action on Tuesday, October 24, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
It was the season finale for the Mighty Macs who completed the 2006 campaign with wins in four of their last five games.
Freshman Christina Guerrieri scored the first of her two goals at 14:20, while Ortega followed with her first goal off an assist from sophomore Melissa Hopely at 37:56. Guerrieri's second goal at 39:59 from freshman Brianna Piatt gave Immaculata a 3-0 lead at intermission.
Ortega, who was named to the PAC Honor Roll, scored just 2:54 (47:54) into the second half. She completed her hat trick with an assist from freshman Ashley McMullen at 61:28.
Junior goalkeeper Kristi Dittbrenner, who recorded her second shutout of the season, collected eight saves.
