Fouhy Earns Spot On PAC Sportsmanship Team

 

ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata freshman Katherine Fouhy earned a spot on the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Lacrosse Sportsmanship Team, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

 

The Richland, N.J., native played in nine contests for the Mighty Macs during her rookie campaign and started one game. She gathered six ground balls and won one draw control.

 

Fouhy is also a member of Immaculata’s field hockey team.

 

Immaculata Falls In Season Finale To Bryn Mawr, 13-3

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team fell to Bryn Mawr College, 13-3, on Thursday afternoon at Applebee Field in the season finales for both schools.

The Mighty Macs finish the season at 1-12 overall, while the Owls wrap up their season 5-11.

Immaculata was led by one-goal performances from Jenna Specht, Claire Lichty and Jenn Norris while Audra Dinapoli registered one assist. Melanie Suarez recorded eight saves in goal for the Mighty Macs.

Bryn Mawr used an 8-0 first-half run to power its way past Immaculata. The Owls' first-half was powered by four goals from Greta Flaherty, while Moriah Scott netted three and Georgia Lawrence scored one. Flaherty added three assists while Scott, Cara Cogliuzzo and Jessica Wurtz tallied one assist each.

After half-time, Lawrence got the Owls on the board 29 seconds into action. Immaculata's Lichty netted the Mighty Macs first goal at 1:55 off a pass from Dinapoli. Bryn Mawr answered back with three goals, before Specht netted a goal at 19:25 to make the score 12-2. Norris tallied the final goal of the game with just 48 seconds as she scored unassisted.

 

Immaculata Drops Conference Finale To Eastern, 16-3

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team fell in its Pennsylvania Athletic Conference season finale, 16-3, to Eastern University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mighty Macs are now 1-11 and finish the league slate 1-9, while the Eagles improve to 12-4 overall, 9-1 PAC.

Jenna Specht, Claire Lichty and Megan DiCicco each scored for Immaculata. Melanie Suarez made seven saves during the afternoon in the net.

Eastern scored nine first half goals and added four more goals during the first 12 minutes of the second half to hold a 13-0 advantage over Immaculata.

Lichty scored the first goal of the day for the Mighty Macs with 16:49 remaining in the second half to end the Eagles streak.

After Eastern score three more times, Specht and DiCicco closed the scoring column with tallies one minute apart during the final four minutes of the contest.

Grace Griffith led the Eagles with five goals and an assist. Katie Choquette scored a pair of goals and registered a game-high four assists.

The Mighty Macs conclude their season on Thursday as they travel to Bryn Mawr for a 4:30 p.m. draw.

 

Immaculata Falls to Cabrini On Senior Day, 17-4

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's lacrosse teasm fell to Cabrini College on Saturday, 17-4, in the home finale for the Mighty Macs.

The Cavaliers improve to 10-3 and stay undefeated in the PAC with a 9-0 mark while the Mighty Macs drop to 1-10 overall, 1-8 in the conference. 

Audra Dinapoli recorded a team-best two goals, while Jenna Specht and Claire Lichty each tallied one goal in the effort.

The Cavaliers built a 9-0 lead before Immaculata got on the scoreboard with 2:09 left in the first half as Specht found the back of the cage. Immaculata scored off a Dinapoli free-position shot just 1:42 later, and trailed 9-2 at the break.

Cabrini rattled off the first four goals of the second half, before Immaculata scored two of the next three goals.

Melanie Suarez recorded eight saves in the loss.

Danielle Rothermel led Cabrini with four goals. Amanda Alexandrowitz and Erin Nollen each tallied three goals for the Cavaliers. Kate Schmid stopped 21 shots in the net for the Cavaliers.

Immaculata faces Eastern University on Tuesday, April 22, at 4 p.m.

 

Marywood Trips Up Immaculata, 15-5

SCRANTON, Pa. - Marywood scored the first four goals of the contest and went on to cruise to a 15-5 victory over visiting Immaculata University in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action Tuesday afternoon. 

With the win, Marywood improved their record to 2-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play, while the Mighty Macs fell to 1-9 overall and 1-7 in the PAC.

Claire Lichty tallied a team-best three goals and added one assist while Audra Dinapoli netted two goals for Immaculata.

The Pacers build a 4-0 lead over the first seven and half minutes of the game, led by two goals from Laura Gierman.

The Mighty Macs got on the board at the 18:26 mark of the opening period when Dinapoli scored off a Lichty assist.  Genevieve Vidas answered for the Pacers five minutes later, but Lichty would bring the visitors to within three goals by tallying off a feed from Anastasia Likanchuk.

Marywood would take a 7-2 lead into halftime after scoring two goals in the final 6:43 of the opening stanza.

Marywood broke the game wide open in the second half, scoring seven answered goals to build a commanding 14-2 lead. Lichty would break the hosts run by scoring with 11:53 to play.  Jenna Specht was credited with an assist on the goal.  Dinapoli scored her second goal of the afternoon just over two and a half minutes later by converted a free position shot.

Lichty netted her third of the game with just 35 seconds to play to close out the Mighty Macs scoring.

Katie Sullivan picked up her second win of the season after making 10 saves, while Danielle Mira made two stops in relief for the Pacers.  Claire Giambi took the loss for Immaculata despite making 17 saves.

Marywood got a five-point effort from Gierman on four goals and one assist, and Alanna Waldron and Allie Sodl each scored three goals to lead the Pacers.

The Mighty Macs will return to action this Saturday when they will take on Cabrini College at 1 p.m. Immaculata will be celebrating Senior Day at Draper Walsh Stadium.

 

Immaculata Downed By Alvernia, 20-11

READING, Pa. –Alvernia College defeat Immaculata University, 20-11, on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse action.

Claire Lichty paced the Mighty Macs with three goals, while Jenna Specht and Jenn Norris each tallied two goals apiece.

Alvernia opened up with back-to-back goals and the Crusaders (2-8, 2-3 PAC) never trailed. Immaculata (1-8, 1-6 PAC) got its first goal from Audra Dinapoli 6:34 into the game as she was successful on her free position shot. The Crusaders then scored three straight goals in just over two and half minutes for a 5-1 lead.

The scoring went back and forth over the middle 10 minutes of the first period, before Alvernia capped the first half with the final four goals of the frame for a 12-5 lead at the break.

The second half began with the two teams trading goals until the Mighty Macs got back-to-back from Jess Hanna and Tabitha Reilly, to trail 15-9 with 19:51 remaining in the second half.

Dinapoli, Hanna, Reilly and Diane Quintanilla each added one goal for Immaculata. Claire Giambi took the loss in the cage, recording 13 saves.

McKenna Shafer scored nine goals to pace the Alvernia offense. Tara Walls finished the day with four goals and an assist for the Crusaders. Janelle Fulmer and Amanda Odenwalt combined to make 14 saves in the win.

Immaculata will travel to Marywood University on Tuesday, April 15, at 4 p.m.

 

Widener Tops Immaculata, 18-6

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University's women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-6 loss to Widener University on Thursday, April 10, at Draper Walsh Stadium.

The Mighty Macs fall to 1-7 on the season, while the Pride improve to 3-7.

Claire Lichty registered two goals to lead the Mighty Macs, while Kim DeYoung, Diane Quintanille, Rebecca Whiteman and Lauren Bigos all recorded one goal in the effort for Immaculata. Calire Giambi collected five saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs.

Kerri Schulz amassed six points for Widener on two goals and four assists, while Rebecca Corrado and Tara Krasley each registered three goals to pace the Pride. Jill Cummings was forced to make 11 saves in goal for Widener.

After Immaculata scored its first goal just 37 seconds into the game, Widener went off to the races scoring 10 straight goals. The Pride led at the break 12-4.

Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, April 12, when they travel to Alvernia College. Face-off is set for 1 pm.

 

Immaculata Falls 17-10 To Notre Dame

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse team fell 17-10 to College of Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata slips to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the PAC with the loss, while Notre Dame improves to 5-4 overall, 3-3 PAC.

Jenna Specht registered three goals and Claire Lichty and Katie Goldsborough tallied two goals apiece for Immaculata.

The Mighty Macs scored just 13 seconds into the game as Audra Dinapoli found the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead. That advantage would be short-lived as the Gators scored five straight goals in a span of less than five minutes, to put Notre Dame on top, 5-1, with 24:53 still to play in the first half.

Lichty scored for Immaculata with 23:48 remaining in the opening stanza to stop Notre Dame’s run. However, the Gators would again go spurting, this time for four unanswered goals, and the 9-2 lead with 18:47 left on the first-half clock.

The Gators led 14-3 at the break, and extended their margin to 15-3 before the Mighty Macs found the back of the cage. Specht and Lichty scored back-to-back goals for Immaculata, cutting Notre Dame’s advantage to 15-5.

Notre Dame scored again with 18:58 remaining in the game. Immaculata again put together a two-goal string as Goldsborough and Specht capitalized on free-position attempts to make the score 16-7 with 11:41 remaining.

The Gators put their final goal across with 9:12 to play in the game, and the Mighty Macs scored the final three goals of the game to make the final score 17-10.

Dinapoli, Megan DiCicco and Rebecca Whiteman each scored one goal, and Whiteman added an assist. Claire Giambi, making her first start in goal, made seven saves.

Lauren Terry tallied four goals and one assist to lead Notre Dame while Anne Shippen recorded four goals. Amanda Arkwright allowed seven goals and made 11 saves in the cage in the first 51:22 for the Gators.

Immaculata next plays Widener on Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.

 

Women’s Lacrosse Stumbles At Centenary, 19-4

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse squad fell to host Centenary College, 19-4, on Saturday afternoon at Cyclone Field.

The win improves the Lady Cyclones record to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while Immaculata slips to 1-5 and 1-4 in the PAC. 

Centenary scored four goals in just over the first five minutes of the game and built a seven-goal advantage before Immaculata’s Claire Lichty found the back of the net 15:34 into the contest. The Lady Cyclones scored twice more, just over a minute apart, making the score 9-1 with 11:42 remaining in the first half. Rebecca Whiteman punched in the Mighty Macs’ only other goal of the opening half 20:24 into the stanza, but Centenary countered with four scores to lead, 13-2, at the break.

The Lady Cyclones scored the first two goals of the second half before Whiteman tallied back-to-back goals to complete her hat trick at the 20:48 and 16:55 mark, respectively. From that point, it was all Centenary, as it tallied four more goals to make the final margin 19-4. 

Whiteman led the way for Immaculata with three goals, Lichty added one goal and Katie Goldsborough added an assist. Melanie Suarez made three saves in goal.

Leading the way for the Lady Cyclones was Megan Mars who totaled eight points in six goals and two assists. Lauren Feldman also netted five and also had two assists for Centenary. Clare Johnson made 15 saves between the pipes.

Immaculata is back in action on Tuesday, April 8, when it hosts Notre Dame at Draper Walsh Stadium at 4 p.m.

 

Immaculata Cruises Past Cedar Crest, 12-5

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Rebecca Whiteman posted three goals and four points to lead Immaculata’s women’s lacrosse squad to a 12-5 victory over visiting Cedar Crest in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

The Mighty Macs (1-4, 1-3 PAC) outscored the Falcons (1-8, 1-5) 3-0 during the game’s first 13 minutes to lead, 3-0, with 17:02 remaining in the opening half. Cedar Crest got on the board with a game at the 13:45 mark, but Immaculata again scored a string of three straight goals. The hosts enjoyed a comfortable 6-2 advantage at the break.

Immaculata opened the second half scoring six goals within the first 15 minutes. Whiteman scored three goals during the stretch, including the final two goals of the string, putting the Mighty Macs ahead, 12-2, with 15:13 still to play.

Cedar Crest found the back of the net three times during the final 12 minutes, capitalizing on two free position attempts, but Immaculata held on for the 12-5 win.

Immaculata was able to control the tempo of the game by securing 13 of the 19 draw controls. Whiteman led the way with five draw controls for the Mighty Macs. Immaculata also held a decisive 42-20 edge on shots, including a 25-8 advantage in the first half.

Katie Goldsborough registered a hat trick while Lauren Bigos finished with two goals. Claire Lichty finished with two points on a goal and an assist. Jenna Specht and Jenn Norris each scored a goal.

Melanie Suarez recorded 10 saves in goal, picking up her first win of the season. Davin Ursini started and played the first 43:22 for the Falcons, making 15 saves, while Kara Malysza made three saves in the final 16:38.

Brianna Adam and Brittany Symbol each scored two goals for Cedar Crest.

Immaculata hits the road on Saturday, April 5, when it travels to Centenary for a 1 p.m. tilt.

 

Immaculata Topped By Gwynedd-Mercy, 16-7

 

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse team suffered a 16-7 defeat at the hands of Gwynedd-Mercy College on Tuesday, April, 1, at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Junior Claire Lichty and freshman Rebecca Whiteman each recorded two goals, while seniors Jenna Specht and Jenn Norris and freshman Audra Dinapoll added one goal apiece for Immaculata (0-4, 0-3 PAC).

Freshman Melanie Suarez recorded 11 saves in goal for the Mighty Macs.

Bridget Gibson paced the Griffins (4-4, 3-1 PAC) with six goals, while Colleen Dellostretto added four goals.

Immaculata concludes its three-game homestand on Thursday, April 3, against Cedar Crest at 4 p.m.

 

Cougars Stop Mighty Macs, 17-3

 

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse squad fell to visiting Misericordia University, 17-3, on Saturday, March 29, in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference contest.

Freshman Rebecca Whiteman amassed two goals and junior Claire Lichty tallied one goal for the Mighty Macs.

Freshman Melanie Suarez collected nine saves for Immaculata (0-3, 0-2 PAC).

Misericordia (4-3, 3-2 PAC) spread its first three goals over the opening 10 minutes of the game before Whiteman answered for Immaculata 10:09 into the contest. The Cougars quickly responded with four goals of the next 10 minutes for the 7-1 lead with 9:58 to play in the first half. Misericordia went on to lead 9-3 at the half.

Nicole DeAngelis and Shannon Tinkham each totaled five goals and two assists to lead Misericordia. Allison Hoffer and Heather Heun split duties between the pipes for the Cougars. Hoffer played the first half allowing three goals while making two saves. Heun played 30 scoreless minutes having to make five saves.

Immaculata will be back in action on Tuesday, April 1, when it hosts Gwynedd-Mercy at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.

 

Immaculata Falls 14-4 To Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse team fell to Arcadia University, 14-4, in a non-conference tilt on Thursday, March 27.

Freshman Rebecca Whiteman tallied two goals, while freshman Lauren Bigos and senior Jessica Hanna each registered one goal.

Freshman Melanie Suarez made 10 saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs (0-2 overall, 0-1 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference).

Jamie Stevenson amassed four goals for the host Knights (3-2), while Erin Cunningham recorded a hat trick and finished the game with four points. Arcadia goalkeeper Michelle Leone was forced to make 11 saves.

Arcadia rattled off the first five goals of the contest before Hanna found the back of the net 14:01 into the game. The Knights led 9-2 at the half.

Immaculata returns home to Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday, March 29, when the Mighty Macs welcome Misericordia for a 1 p.m. draw.

 

Neumann Spoils Home Opener, 16-7

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse team fell to Neumann College, 16-7, in its season opener on Tuesday, March 11. The contest also marked the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) opener for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata drops to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the PAC, while Neumann improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Senior Jenna Specht, junior Claire Lichty and freshman Lauren Bigos all knotted two goals apiece. Freshman Rebecca Whiteman added Immaculata’s other goal on the afternoon. Lichty also added an assist.

Freshman Melanie Suarez played all 60 minutes in the cage, garnering 11 saves. Caitlin O’Shea was in goal for the Knights and made eight saves while earning the win.

Gabby D’Ambrosio paced Neumann with six goals and added an assist, while Rachael DiCicco tallied four goals.

The Mighty Macs return to action on Thursday, March 27, when they travel to Arcadia. First draw is slated for 4 p.m.

 

Immaculata Picked Seventh In The PAC Preseason Poll

ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s lacrosse team was selected to finish seventh out of 11 teams in the 2008 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) preseason poll Wednesday as voted on by the league’s head coaches. The Mighty Macs garnered a total of 45 points. 

Two-time defending champion Eastern University is the preseason favorite to capture the crown, earning 115 points and capturing six of the 11 possible first-place votes. Cabrini College, which also earned 115 points, was picked second after collecting the five remaining first-place votes.

Gwynedd-Mercy College was selected third with 99 points, while Neumann College was projected fourth with 82 points.

Misericordia University (77), Alvernia College (65), College of Notre Dame (41), Centenary College (38), Cedar Crest College (27) and Marywood University (22) rounded out the preseason poll in fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively.

The Mighty Macs open the 2008 season on Tuesday, March 11, at home against league rival Neumann at 4 p.m.

 

Lichty Named All-PAC

 

Sophomore Claire Lichty was selected as an All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Honorable Mention honoree. The award was announced on Thursday, May 10, at the conference office in Aston, PA.

 

Lichty led the Mighty Macs in scoring with 35 points. She amassed 31 goals and four assists. Lichty scored five or more goals twice and three or more goals, three times. She collected 38 ground balls, including a season-high 10 vs. Neumann College.

 

Sophomore Danielle Meadows was named to the Push the Rock All-PAC Sportsmanship team.

 

The Mighty Macs finished the 2007 campaign with a record of 4-9 overall and 2-7 in the PAC.
