
Jones And Cammarano Receive Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Award
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Seniors Rob Jones and Nina Cammarano are the 2008 recipients of the Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. The Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Award is presented to one male and one female senior student-athlete for outstanding athletic accomplishments, sportsmanship, University and community service and leadership.
In addition to the Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Awards, Cammarano was presented with the Outstanding Senior Scholar-Athlete Award.
Jones, a member of the men’s basketball team and a sport management major at Immaculata, was voted a team captain by his peers for the 2007-08 season. In 2008, he was a PAC Honorable Mention selection after helping lead the Mighty Macs to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance. He finished the year second on the squad in rebounding, averaging 6.5 grabs per outing and was fourth in scoring at 9.6 points per game.
Jones, who started all 58 games during his two-year career at Immaculata, played on an IU squad that reached the PAC championship game during his first season. For his efforts during 2006-07, the Wynnewood, Pa., native earned second team All-PAC accolades, after leading the team in rebounding (8.0 rpg) and was second in both scoring (12.6 ppg) and steals (47).
He completed his tenure as a Mighty Mac with 621 points, 405 rebounds, 100 steals, 78 assists and 24 blocked shots. For his career, he recorded 33 double-digit scoring efforts and nine double-doubles.
Cammarano, a member of the women’s basketball team and a communications major, is Immaculata’s all-time, three-point field goal leader, finishing her career with 177 three-pointers. During 2007-08, she was IU’s leading scoring, with 13.1 points per game, and was selected to the PAC weekly honor roll on Feb. 18.
The Wernersville, Pa., native capped her four-year basketball career starting 102 games with 888 points, 279 rebounds, 112 steals and 108 assists. She scored in double-figures 40 times throughout her career, including 16 times her senior season. Immaculata advanced to the conference playoffs twice during her time as a Mighty Mac. Cammarano is also a four-time member of the PAC sportsmanship team.
During her IU career, she served as an intern in the athletic department this past year, aiding in the design and development of media guides for the men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s soccer. She was also tasked with the preparation and updating of the student-athlete directory and assisting with the statistical record keeping during events. Cammarano has also served on Immaculata’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
In addition to Cammarano’s activities at Immaculata, she worked as an intern at NAS Recruitment Communications, where she assisted in prospecting future clients and in proof reading and quality check of advertisements. She also prepared PowerPoint sales presentations and supported the research initiative for web site contest review.
Cammarano was a two-sport athlete at Immaculata during her freshman and sophomore years. She was a member of the field hockey program, playing 35 games, amassing nine goals and nine assists for a total of 27 points.
In addition, to highlight the numerous accomplishments of Immaculata’s teams and student-athletes, the evening also featured All-PAC award winners being recognized for their achievements throughout the past year.
Mighty Macs Celebrate The New Year In Florida
Immaculata University women's basketball team participated in the Land of Magic Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida from Thursday, December 27 to Sunday, December 30. The Mighty Macs than turned their attention to Walt Disney World, where they spent the last few days of their trip. Immaculata rang in 2008 in the Magic Kingdom.

Cathy Rush Gets Call From The Hall
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Former Immaculata women’s basketball coach Cathy Rush has joined an exclusive club of celebrated coaches with today’s announcement that she has been selected for induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Rush was introduced with the hall of fame Class of 2008 at a noon (EST) press conference in San Antonio, Texas, the site of the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
Rush is joined by NBA standouts Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Adrian Dantley, NBA coaching legend Pat Riley, television broadcaster Dick Vitale and Detroit Pistons and Shock owner Bill Davidson as members of the 2008 Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Class.
Prior to Rush’s induction, there were 80 coaches and 281 individual members overall. Rush becomes just the ninth women’s basketball coach to be selected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Other notable female women’s basketball mentors include former Texas coach Jody Conradt, former LSU coach Sue Gunter, former UCLA coach Billie Moore, Tennessee coach Pat Summit, former Delta State coach Margaret Wade and NC State coach Kay Yow. Connecticut coach Geno Auriemma and LSU coach Val Chancellor are the other women’s basketball coaches in the Hall.
Rush, a pioneer in women's basketball and an advocate for women's sports, led Immaculata University to three consecutive AIAW national championships from 1972 to 1974. She propelled Immaculata, and women's basketball, into the national spotlight when the Mighty Macs appeared on national television in 1975, a first for women's basketball.
Rush won 149 games in only seven season and lost only 15, good for a .908 winning percentage. She made six consecutive appearances in the AIAW Final Four (1972-1977) and for her accomplishments was enshrined into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000.
To be enshrined, a finalist must garner a minimum of 18 votes from the 24-member Honors Committee.
The induction ceremony for the Class of 2008 will be part of Enshrinement Weekend events scheduled for September 4-6, 2008 in Springfield, Mass., the home of the Hall of Fame.
Cammarano Named To All-PAC Sportsmanship Team
ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata senior captain Nina Cammarano was named to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Sportsmanship Team for women’s basketball. The team is comprised of one representative from each PAC basketball program.
Cammarano led the team in scoring, averaging 13.1 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per outing during the 2007-08 season. The Wernersville, Pa., native, also led the Mighty Macs in steals (50) and was second on the squad with 40 assists.
For her career, the senior guard averaged 8.7 points over 102 games. Cammarano is also the Mighty Macs all-time leader in three-point field goals, setting a new Immaculata mark of 177 career threes. Cammarano eclipsed Lindsey Williams’ previous record of 166 three-pointers on Feb. 11, against Eastern University, when she knocked down six threes en route to posting a career-high 30 points.
Immaculata Drops Season Finale, 59-58
IMMACULATA, Pa. – A jumper by Eastern’s Hannah Tobin with 13 seconds remaining gave the Eagles a 59-58 victory against the host Immaculata Mighty Macs on Senior Day at Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata finishes the season with a 6-19 overall mark and 4-12 record in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. Eastern concludes its 2007-08 campaign 5-20 overall and 4-12 in the conference.
Senior Nina Cammarano tallied a team-high 16 points, while junior Kasey Hicks added 11 points and seven rebounds. Junior Courtney Dixon finished with 10 points and a team-best four assists, while freshman Deanna Tropea had game-high honors with 11 rebounds.
The game was tied, 52-all, for the ninth time at the 5:20 mark of the second stanza, when the Mighty Macs went on a 6-2 run to lead by four, 58-54, with 1:24 to play. Mandy Kuiken sunk a three-pointer with 31 seconds remaining to bring the visitors within one.
Cammarano went to the line with 26 ticks left, but missed the free throw and Shaneen Brown grabbed the rebound for the Eagles. Tobin hit the jumper with 13 seconds left on the clock, and the Might Macs were unable to convert they attempt at a layup as time expired.
Kuiken had a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds. Tobin added 14 points and led Eastern with nine rebounds. Patrice Freeman and Joelle DeCarlo finished in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Cammarano Selected to the PAC Honor Roll
ASTON, Pa. – Immaculata senior guard Nina Cammarano was selected to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Monday, Feb. 18. It marked Cammarano’s first recognition by the PAC this season.
A native of Wernersville, Pa., Cammarano averaged 16.7 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Mighty Macs. In a 77-74 overtime victory against Eastern, Cammarano posted a career-best 30 points, including a 9-of-18 effort from the field. Six of Cammarano’s field goals came from beyond the arc, setting a new Immaculata record for career three-point baskets (174). Cammarano also led the squad with 15 points in a win against Notre Dame on Thursday, while she registered five points against Rosemont.
For the season, Cammarano leads the team in scoring averaging 13.0 points per game. She also leads the squad with 49 steals, has added 39 assists and averaged 4.2 rebounds per contest.
Stephanie Roberts from Centenary College captured the league’s player of the week honor, while Kayleen Smith from Cabrini College also earned honor roll mention with Cammarano.
The Mighty Macs finish the 2007-08 campaign on Thursday night, Feb. 21, when they host Eastern University at 6 p.m. in Alumnae Hall.
Rosemont Nips Immaculata, 48-46
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Karen Boyle nailed a jumper with 2.1 seconds left in regulation to break a 46-all tie and lift Rosemont College past Immaculata University, 48-46, Saturday afternoon.
Immaculata is now 6-18 overall and 4-11 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while Rosemont improves to 8-14, 5-10 in the PAC.
It was a game of runs all afternoon, but the Ramblers 9-2 spurt during the final two and a half minutes lifted them to victory. Junior Courtney Dixon made a layup with 2:49 remaining in the game, putting the Mighty Macs ahead by five, 44-39. Boyle sunk a jumper with 2:32 on the clock, bringing Rosemont within three, and just 21 seconds later drained a three-pointer to knot the score at 44-all.
Junior Kasey Hicks was fouled and made both free throws, pulling the Mighty Macs back ahead, 46-44, with 1:59 to play. However, Adrianna Demchenko answered for the Ramblers as she hit a jumper and was fouled on the play, but could not convert the free throw, and the game was again in a deadlock with 1:37 remaining.
With 16 ticks remaining, Immaculata had a chance to pull ahead as senior Nina Cammarano put up a jumper, but it was blocked by Demchenko, and she grabbed the rebound. After a Mighty Mac timeout, the Ramblers drove to the opposite end and Boyle’s jumper went in with 2.1 left.
Sophomore Shannon Kueny led the Mighty Macs with 11 points, while Dixon finished the game with 10 points. Hicks added nine points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals. Freshman Deanna Tropea registered a career-high 16 rebounds, and tallied four points and two blocks.
Rosemont was led by Demchenko’s double-double with 10 points and 22 rebounds. Boyle held game-high honors with 15 points, including the crucial seven points during the final minutes of the contest.
Immaculata concludes the 2007-08 season on Thursday, Feb. 21, when it hosts Eastern University at 6 p.m. The Mighty Macs will celebrate Senior Night as they honor Nina Cammarano prior to their tilt against the Eagles.
Hicks' Triple-Double Propels Immaculata Over Notre Dame, 58-32
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Led by junior Kasey Hicks’ first career triple-double, the Immaculata University women’s basketball defeated the College of Notre Dame, 58-32, on Thursday night, Feb. 14, at Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata improves to 6-17 overall and 4-10 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while Notre Dame falls to 5-17, 3-11 PAC.
Hicks finished the contest with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the triple-double. Senior Nina Cammarano held game-high honors with 15 points, while freshman Holly Miara added eight points. Freshman Deanna Tropea led the Mighty Macs on the glass with 11 rebounds, and junior Shannon Kueny swiped eight rebounds.
It was a closely contested contest during the opening 10 minutes that saw three ties and three lead changes. The Mighty Macs took the final lead change of the first stanza at the 9:19 mark as Cammarano made a layup, putting Immaculata ahead, 17-16. Cammarano’s basket began a 17-2 offensive explosion, in which five Immaculata players scored, in a little less than eight minutes. Sasha Matthew was successful on her layup attempt with 33 seconds remaining in the first half, ending a 9:08 dry spell for the Gators from the field.
Immaculata held the 32-20 advantage at intermission behind 37.5% shooting from the field (12-32), including 4-of-5 (.800) from behind the arc. Notre Dame was only 7 for 32 (.219) from the field, 1-of-9 from three-point, during the first half.
The Mighty Macs came out firing in the second half, outscoring the Gators 7-1 over the first five minutes. Notre Dame hit its first second-half bucket from the field at the 14:38 mark as Faith Wassink sunk a three-pointer, but the Gators would not be successful on another shot until the 11:28 mark.
By then, the Mighty Macs had jumped ahead, 49-26, and would not relinquish their 20-plus point lead. Immaculata’s largest advantage grew to 29 points, 55-26, with 6:47 left in the contest, and the game would end with the Mighty Macs winning by a 58-32 margin.
Matthew led the Gators with nine points, while Briana Grap chipped in seven points. India Scott finished with a game-high 15 rebounds.
Immaculata will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it welcomes Rosemont into Alumnae Hall. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
Immaculata Wins Overtime Thriller, 77-74, Against Eastern
ST. DAVID’S, Pa. – Powered by senior Nina Cammarano’s career-high 30 points, the Immaculata University women’s basketball team defeated Eastern University, 77-74, in overtime on Monday night.
The Mighty Macs improve to 5-17 overall and 3-10 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while the Eagles dip to 4-18 overall, 3-10 in the league. Immaculata is now in a three-way tie for fourth place in the PAC South Division with Eastern and Rosemont. Notre Dame, who was idle tonight, is third with a record of 3-9.
Cammarano’s career-best 30 points included a 9-of-18 effort from the field, with six of her field goals coming from behind the arc. Her six treys in the game set a new Immaculata record for career three-point baskets with 171. Cammarano’s second three of the night with 6:23 to play in the first half moved her ahead of Lindsey Williams’ mark of 166. Cammarano also grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists and swiped two steals.
Immaculata opened the game on an 8-2 run during the first four minutes before Eastern scored its first bucket from the field, as Patrice Freeman made a layup at the 15:32 mark and added two free throws just 20 seconds later to cut Immaculata’s lead to 8-6.
It was then that Cammarano hit her first three of the night and sparked an 11-0 run for the Mighty Macs over 4:30, giving Immaculata its largest lead of the contest, 19-6, with 10:19 remaining in the opening stanza.
With 6:38 left on the first half clock, Immaculata still maintained a double-digit advantage, 26-15, but Eastern cut the Mighty Macs’ lead to one, 28-27, in just over three minutes as Mandy Kuiken drained two treys for the Eagles.
The Eagles took their first lead of the contest with 1:38 remaining before halftime as Joelle DeCarlo rained in a three, and Eastern would hold the advantage at intermission, 37-32.
Eastern had pushed it advantage to 13, 52-39, at the 13:45 mark of the second half as Kuiken scored seven of the Eagles 15 points during the spurt. However, Immaculata answered right back with a 14-4 run of its own to cut the deficit to 56-53 with 6:57 remaining in the tilt.
The Mighty Macs got within two points three times during the final six minutes but could never overtake the Eagles. Junior Courtney Dixon hit a jumper with 41 seconds left in regulation to bring Immaculata within two, 67-65, for the third time.
Kuiken missed the layup on the other end of the court and junior Kasey Hicks grabbed the rebound for Immaculata. Dixon was fouled as she was set up the final shot for the Mighty Macs and was set to the foul line. Dixon missed the free throw, but freshman Deanna Tropea was able to bring down the rebound and lay it in for the game-tying shot as time expired.
The Mighty Macs scored first in overtime as Cammarano sunk the fifth of her three-pointers, but the Eagles rattled off five straight points before Cammarano again answered the call with a trey. It gave Immaculata the 73-72 edge and the Mighty Macs held on for the 77-74 victory.
Hicks recorded a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, all defensive, and also added five assists. Dixon finished with nine points and four assists. Junior Stephanie Stripe tallied a career high with 11 rebounds and added three points, while Tropea had career-highs in both points (8) and blocks (5) and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Mighty Macs.
Kuiken finished with 29 points for Eastern and Hannah Tobin chipped in 18 points. Shaneen Brown led the Eagles on the glass with 10 rebounds.
Immaculata returns home for the final three games of the regular season. The Mighty Macs welcome Notre Dame into Alumnae Hall on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m.
Immaculata Falls to Cedar Crest, 57-45
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s basketball team dropped a 57-45 decision to Cedar Crest College on Saturday, Feb.9, as the Mighty Macs celebrated “Think Pink” Day at Alumnae Hall.
Immaculata falls to 4-17 overall and 2-10 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while Cedar Crest ups its record to 6-15 overall, 1-12 PAC.
Junior Stephanie Stripe led the Mighty Macs with 15 points, three rebounds and a career-high three steals. Juniors Kasey Hicks and Courtney Dixon each added eight points apiece. Hicks also grabbed 13 rebounds, while Dixon pulled down seven. Freshman Deanna Tropea had a career day with 14 rebounds.
Cedar Crest had two players record double-doubles. Leann Wallower finished with game-high honors with 23 points and tallied 12 rebounds. Kelly Oakes came down with a game-high 17 rebounds and added 12 points for the double-double. Sarah Campbell also chipped in 16 points.
Immaculata will play its final regular-season road contest when it travels to Eastern on Monday, Feb. 11, for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
"Think Pink" on Saturday with Immaculata's Basketball Teams

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata University women’s basketball team, in conjunction with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), is proud to sponsor “Think Pink Day” at Alumnae Hall on Saturday, Feb. 9. The Mighty Macs’ women’s squad will be facing Cedar Crest College at 1 p.m., while the Mighty Macs’ men team will host Gwynedd-Mercy College at 3 p.m.
The WBCA's "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began "Think Pink" in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2008, more than 800 schools will unify for this effort and help make the second year of the WBCA's "Think Pink" campaign, which runs from Friday, Feb. 8, to Sunday, Feb. 17, a success.
The Immaculata women’s basketball team will be wearing pink uniforms when they take the court Saturday, while the men’s basketball squad will be showing its support by wearing pink shooting shirts during warm-ups.
All fans attending the game are encouraged to show their support in the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink. Immaculata will also be distributing pink Mighty Macs t-shirts and informational material to fans in attendance. Tickets to Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball double-header are $5, and all proceeds from the game will benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Breast Cancer Fund.

Cabrini Tops Immaculata, 56-38
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s basketball team lost to Cabrini College, 56-38, on Thursday night at Alumnae Hall in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference contest.
Cabrini improves to 14-5 overall and 9-1 in the PAC, while Immaculata is now 4-16 this season and 2-9 in the league.
Senior Nina Cammarano registered a team-high 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Junior Courtney Dixon finished one rebound short of a double-double, with 10 points and nine rebounds. Junior Stephanie Stripe collected seven points and six rebounds, while junior Kasey Hicks tallied two points, six rebounds and four assists for the Mighty Macs. Freshman Deanna Tropea came off the bench to record three rebounds and three blocks shots in just 11 minutes of action.
Immaculata scored the first six points of the contest, and held a 10-2 advantage against Cabrini at the 13:26 mark of the first half. The Mighty Macs continued their run on a 9-3 spurt, sparked by five points from sophomore Shana Kehoe, for a 19-8 lead with just under nine minutes remaining before intermission. However, the Cavaliers tied the contest at 21-all at the 3:35 mark, and went on to lead at the break, 31-21.
Kate Walck led all scorers with 15 points for the Cavaliers, while Kayleen Smith grabbed eight rebounds.
Immaculata will be back on the hardwood on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. when the Mighty Macs host Cedar Crest College on “Think Pink Day.” Immaculata encourages all fans attending the game to wear pink to show their support in the fight against breast cancer.
Strong Second Half Not Enough as Immaculata Falls to Gwynedd-Mercy
GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Despite a valiant second-half effort, Immaculata could not overcome its first-half deficit, falling to Gwynedd-Mercy College, 74-61, in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Monday evening.
The Griffins improve their mark to 16-4 overall and 11-0 in the league, while the Mighty Macs drop to 4-15 overall, 2-8 in the PAC.
Juniors Stephanie Stripe and Kasey Hicks led the Mighty Macs in the scoring column with 13 points apiece. Stripe added five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Hicks also led Immaculata with nine rebounds, four assists and recorded one blocked shot. Senior Nina Cammarano was the only other Mighty Mac in double-figures, chipping in 11 points.
The Mighty Macs trailed 41-26 at halftime, and the Griffins continued to extend their advantage during the first four minutes of the second half, going on a 14-5 run to begin the stanza. Gwynedd-Mercy’s 55-31 lead at the 16:31 mark was the largest of the contest.
Immaculata still trailed by 22, 64-42, with 7:51 remaining in the game, when the Mighty Macs exploded on a 17-3 spurt, cutting the margin to eight (67-59) with 1:17 still to play. However, Gwynedd-Mercy was able to convert 5-of-6 free throws during the closing 1:10 of the game to secure the victory for the Griffins.
Immaculata was able to limit Gwynedd-Mercy to just one basket from the field during the contest’s final seven minutes, a layup by Jackie Dooley with 48 seconds remaining.
Kristy Cramp led all scorers with 21 points, while Karen Tierney added 13 points and five rebounds for Gwynedd-Mercy. Dooley finished the game with 12 points. Beccie Strohecker led the Griffins on the glass with seven rebounds.
Immaculata will return to the confines of Alumnae Hall on Thursday, Feb. 7 when the Mighty Macs host visiting Cabrini College at 7 p.m.
Cavaliers Too Much For Mighty Macs
RADNOR, Pa. – Immaculata University’s women’s basketball team suffered a 69-41 setback at the hands of Cabrini College on Saturday, February 2, at the Dixon Center in Radnor, Pa. The Mighty Macs drop to 4-14 overall and 2-7 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while the Cavaliers improve to 13-5, 8-1 PAC.
Senior Nina Cammarano led the Mighty Macs with a game-high 17 points. Junior Stephanie Stripe and sophomore Erica Massenburg each added eight points and five rebounds. Freshman Deanna Tropea led Immaculata on the glass collecting eight rebounds, while junior Kasey Hicks added six boards.
Brittany McLeod led the Cavaliers with 16 points and five rebounds. Kate Ryan and Kayleen Smith added 14 and eight points, respectively.
The Mighty Macs return to action on Monday, February 4, when they conclude their four-game road stretch at Gwynedd-Mercy. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
Philadelphia Biblical Slips Past Immaculata
LANGHORNE, Pa. - A jumper by Caitlin Hess with 21 seconds left on the clock propelled Philadelphia Biblical University to the 55-53 victory against Immaculata University Wednesday night, January 30, at the Mason Activity Center in Langhorne, Pa. Immaculata moves to 4-13 overall this season.
Philadelphia Biblical (8-8) led by two points, 53-51, after Lindsey Fornwalt hit a jumper with 1:14 remaining in the game, but Immaculata junior Kasey Hicks evened the score at 53 after she sunk a jumper with 44 ticks on the clock. As the shot clock was winding down for the Crimson Eagles, Hess nailed the jumper with 21 seconds remaining in the game, and the Mighty Macs' three-point attempt as time expired missed.
Hicks led Immaculata in both scoring and rebounding with 12 points and seven rebounds. She also added seven assists, two steals and two blocks. Juniors Shannon Kueny and Stephanie Stripe each chipped in 10 points, while junior Courtney Dixon added eight points.
The opening eight minutes of the contest was highly contested as the lead went back-and-forth between the teams. The Crimson Eagles held a one-point advantage, 10-9, at the 12:19 mark, when the Mighty Macs went on a flurry, scoring seven unanswered points in just under four minutes, causing Philadelphia Biblical to call timeout.
In just over two minutes, the Crimson Eagles went on a 7-4 run to get within three of the Mighty Macs with 4:41 remaining in the first half. Immaculata answered right back, scoring on three of its next four trips down court for its largest lead of the first half, 27-17, with 2:01 to play. Immaculata went on to lead, 30-26 at the intermission.
The second stanza began much like the contest started with each team trading baskets. Immaculata was able to maintain its advantage until Dani Norton sunk a three-point basket with 10:31 on the clock for Philadelphia Biblical to tie the contest at 42-42. During the ensuing two and a half minutes, the Mighty Macs pushed their lead to seven, 49-42, the largest of the second half, as Kueny chipped in four points during the spurt.
Philadelphia Biblical forced the second tied score, 51-51, of the second half after it outscored Immaculata 7-2 over 5:11, and the Crimson Eagles took their first lead since the 12:19 mark of the first half as Lindsey Fornwalt made a jumper with 1:14 to play in the tilt.
The Crimson Eagles finished with four players in double figures in the scoring column, led by Summer Mullen's 15 points. Norton chipped in 14 points, while Hess added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds and Fornwalt finished with 10.
Immaculata with play its third consecutive road contest when it returns to the conference slate on Saturday, February 2, taking on Cabrini at 1 p.m.
Immaculata Victorious at Rosemont
ROSEMONT, Pa. – Spurred by senior Nina Cammarano’s 20 points, the Immaculata University women’s basketball team soundly defeated Rosemont College Monday night, January 28, 64-53. The victory ups the Mighty Macs record to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.
The Mighty Macs placed three players in double figures in the scoring column. Cammarano led the trio with 20 points, four steals and five rebounds. Cammarano went 2-of-3 from behind the arc and moved into second place on the all-time three-pointers made ledger with 161. The senior guard is now five threes shy of tying Lindsey Williams for the career mark. Sophomore Erica Massenburg poured in 13 points and made three steals, while junior Stephanie Stripe added 10 points.
Immaculata set the pace early, jumping out to a 14-7 advantage during the contests opening five minutes. Rosemont (6-11, 2-7 PAC) was able to come back and tie the game, 16-16, at the 11:21 mark of the first half, but that would be as close as the Ramblers got the remainder of the tilt. In just under seven minutes, the Mighty Macs outscored the Ramblers by a 15-3 margin, and went on for the 40-25 halftime lead.
Junior Kasey Hicks led the Mighty Macs on the glass collecting nine rebounds, dishing out nine assists and chipped in nine points. Junior Courtney Dixon grabbed eight rebounds and contributed eight points in the effort.
Rosemont was led by Adriann Demchenko’s double-double with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, while Christa Bednarek added 10 points for the Ramblers.
Immaculata will be back in action as it continues its four-game road stretch at Philadelphia Biblical University on Wednesday, January 30. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Immaculata Falls to Misericordia
The Immaculata University women's basketball squad fell to Misericordia University, 75-42, Saturday, January 26, in Alumnae Hall. The Mighty Macs slip to 3-12 overall and 1-6 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, while the Cougars improve their record to 11-6, 7-1 PAC.
Junior Stephanie Stripe came off the bench to tally a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds, while junior Courtney Dixon added 10 points and five rebounds. Senior Nina Cammarano registered nine points, four rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Shana Kehoe led the Mighty Macs with three steals, while junior Kasey Hicks dished how a team-leading three assists.
Ericka Morrison registered a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds for the Cougars. Amy Hughes poured in 19 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Lacey DeGraw recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Immaculata returns to action at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 27, when it travels to Rosemont College.
Knights Slip Past Neumann
Immaculata University women's basketball team fell to Neumann College 71-70 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Thursday, January 24, in Alumnae Hall.
Junior Kasey Hicks netted a career-high 18 points, while junior Stephanie Stripe set a career best with 17 points off the bench. Senior Nina Cammarano recorded 13 points, six rebounds, three assists, and four steals, while sophomore Erica Massenburg poured in 10 points and totaled four assists.
Trailing 57-49 with 7:55 remaining in the second half, the Mighty Macs (3-11, 1-5 PAC) used an 11-2 run, fueled by Massenburg's seven points, to post a 60-59 lead with 4:18 left. Both teams traded baskets until the Knights (11-6, 6-2 PAC) held a 66-63 lead with 2:33 remaining. But four straight points by Stripe gave Immaculata the lead right back at 67-66 with 1:51 to play.
Neumann answered with a three-point field goal by Krista DiRomualdo at 1:29 to take a 69-67 lead, but Stripe responded with a lay-up to knot the game at 69-69 with 1:13 left. Caitlin Agnew broke the tie, 71-69, with a lay-up at 0:41, but Stripe made 1-2 from the foul line to pull the Mighty Macs within 71-70 with 0:09 remaining. After a missed foul shot by the Knights, Cammarano's last-second shot hit the front the of the rim to preserve the victory for Neumann.
Dominique Thompson and DiRomualdo each registered a game-high 24 points, while Agnew added 15 points.
Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, January 26, when they host Misericordia University. Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
Immaculata Upends Newcomer College Of Notre Dame
Junior Courtney Dixon totaled 16 points to lead Immaculata University to a 68-64 victory over the College of Notre Dame in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Monday, January 21 in Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition to her 16 points, Dixon also tied her career high with seven rebounds. Senior Nina Cammarano recorded 17 points, while sophomore Erica Massenburg tied her career high with 12 points. Cammarano went 5-9 from beyond the arc and has accumulated 157 career three-point field goals. She is two shy of tying Mary Gallagher (159) for second on the school's all-time career three-point field goal list. Lindsey Williams (166) holds the school record.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo collected a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Kasey Hicks amassed nine points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Trailing 21-17 with 7:14 remaining in the first half, the Mighty Macs (3-10, 1-4 PAC) used a 16-6 run to end the half and take a 33-27 lead into intermission. However, the Gators (4-10, 2-4 PAC) outscored Immaculata 15-10 in the first 5:29 of the second half to retake the lead, 45-43, with 14:31.
With the score knotted at 58-58, the ninth tie of the contest, Cammarano connected on her fifth three-pointer to break the tie and propel the Mighty Macs to the 68-64 victory.
Kendra Baldwin totaled a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds to pace Notre Dame. Briana Grap scored 18 points, while Sasha Matthews amassed 12 points and eight rebounds.
Immaculata returns to action on Thursday, January 24, when they host Neumann College. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
Mighty Macs Fall To Blue Jays
Immaculata University women's basketball team fell to Elizabethtown College 83-52 in non-conference action on Saturday, January 19, in Alumnae Hall.
Senior Nina Cammarano collected a team-high 15 points, while junior Kasey Hicks amassed eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Junior Shannon Kueny recorded six points off the bench, while freshman Jessica Gaburo totaled six points, five rebounds and three assists. Freshman Deanna Tropea registered career highs of four points and three rebounds for the Mighty Macs (2-10).
Erin Walton scored a game-high 20 points to pace the Blue Jays (9-5). Megan Quinn netted 17 points, while Kirsti Larsen added 14 points off the bench.

Neumann Tops Immaculata
Immaculata University women's basketball team fell to Neumann College 67-40 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Thursday, January 17, in Aston, PA.
Senior Nina Cammarano recorded 16 points, while junior Kasey Hicks amassed eight points, six rebounds and four assists. Cammarano also pulled down five rebounds. Junior Courtney Dixon registered seven points and five rebounds for the Mighty Macs (2-9, 0-4 PAC).
Krista DiRomualdo collected 30 points for the Knights (9-5, 4-1), while Dorothy Rozier grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

Wisconsin-Stout Stops Immaculata
Immaculata University women's basketball team dropped an 85-39 decision to University of Wisconsin-Stout on Sunday, December 30 at the Land of Magic Tournament. The tournament was held from Friday, December 28-Sunday, December 30 on the campus of Emory-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL.
Senior Nina Cammarano, sophomore Erica Massenburg, and freshmen Holly Miara and Jessica Gaburo recorded seven points each. Gaburo pulled down nine rebounds, while juniors Courtney Dixon and Shannon Kueny totaled five points a piece. Gaburo and Dixon set new career highs with two blocks, while Miara tied her career best with two blocks for the Mighty Macs (2-8).
Dani Boese led all scorers with 14 points, while Danielle DeWitt collected a double-double to pace Wisconsin-Stout.
Mighty Macs Fall In Florida
Immaculata University women's basketball team fell to Central College (IA) 76-54, on Friday, December 28, in the first game of the Land of Magic Tournament. The tournament is being held from Friday, December 28-Sunday, December 30 on the campus of Emory-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL.
Senior Nina Cammarano recorded 12 points, while junior Kasey Hicks collected a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Shannon Kueny amassed 11 points, and a career-high seven rebounds and four assists, while freshman Jessica Gaburo collected seven rebounds. Sophomore Shana Kehoe tied her career high with six points off the bench for the Mighty Macs (2-7).
Brittney Carlson led all scorers with 19 points, while Mary Swanson and Katie McKim totaled 12 points each to pace Central.

Senior Nina Cammarano registered 10 points and four rebounds, while junior Stephanie Stripe collected five points, three assists and six rebounds in her first start of the season. Freshman Jessica Gaburo tallied five points, six rebounds, two steals and one block, while sophomore Erica Massenburg contributed nine points off the bench.
LeighAnn Burke paced the Bulldogs (8-2) with 19 points, while Caitlin Miller grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Fords Slip Past Mighty Macs
Immaculata University women's basketball team fell to Haverford College 54-45 in non-conference action on Thursday December 6, in Haverford, Pennsylvania.
Senior Nina Cammarano scored a team-high 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while junior Kasey Hicks added 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior Courtney Dixon recorded six points for the Mighty Macs. Hicks also posted six steals.
Sara Cram totaled a game-high 19 points to pace the Fords (2-5). Liz Theibert grabbed 12 rebounds for Haverford.
Immaculata (2-5) returns to action on Tuesday, December 18, when they travel to face DeSales University. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
Crusaders Top Immaculata

Stephanie Roberts amassed 23 points and 17 rebounds, while Jessa Jones posted 21 points and 17 rebounds to pace the Cyclones (2-0, 1-0 PAC).

Murray Named Co-Player of the Week
Junior Dominique Murray was named the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Co-Player of the Week for the week ending November 25. The award was announced on Monday, November 26, at the conference office in Aston, PA.
Murray collected three straight double-doubles to open the season and led the Mighty Macs to a early 2-1 record on the season. In the win over Keystone College, Murray recorded a season-high 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. She also registered a career-high five steals in the game. In the victory over Brooklyn College, she garnered a season-best 16 rebounds and tallied 22 points. For the season, Murray leads the team in both scoring (19.7) and rebounding (14.3).
Immaculata returns to action on Thursday, November 29, when they travel to face Centenary College. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
Mighty Macs Outlasts Keystone
Junior Courtney Dixon scored the first eight points of the second overtime to propel Immaculata University to an 88-78 double-overtime victory over Keystone College on Monday, November 19, in Alumnae Hall. It was the home opener for the Mighty Macs.
Dixon finished with a career-high 18 points, while junior Dominique Murray collected her third consecutive double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Senior Nina Cammarano posted 20 points, including 4-7 from beyond the arc, and tied her career high with six steals. Junior Kasey Hicks played every minute and amassed six points, six assists and three rebounds.
Sophomore Erica Massenburg came off the bench and contributed a career-high 12 points, including 8-9 from the foul line.
Trailing 50-41 with 9:43 left in regulation, the Mighty Macs (2-1) went on a 12-0 run to grab a 53-50 lead with 6:40 remaining. The Giants (0-1) retook the lead and held a 63-59 advantage with 1:42 left. But Immaculata responded with a 6-2 run to close the game, including a three-pointer by Cammarano to send the game into overtime.
In the first overtime, the Mighty Macs held a 72-70 lead with 1:10 left, but Leah Simko connected on two foul shots to knot the game at 72-72 and send it into another overtime. Enter Dixon.
Dixon took over in the second extra session and Immaculata went 8-10 at the foul line to post the 88-78 victory.
Kerry Fallon paced Keystone with 16 points, while Kelli Brago added 14 points.
Cammarano's Career High Propels Immaculata To First Win
Senior Nina Cammarano poured in a career-high 24 points to lead Immaculata University to an 82-61 win over Brooklyn College in the consolation game of the Rinso Marquette Invitational on Saturday, November 17. The invitational was held on the campus of Lebanon Valley College in Anville, Pennsylvania.
Junior Dominique Murray recorded her second consecutive double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds, while freshman Jessica Gaburo registered 20 points and eight rebounds. Junior Kasey Hicks amassed 10 points, 12 assists and three steals, while Cammarano also added a career-best six steals.
Leading 40-36 at the half, the Mighty Macs (1-1) opened the second half on a 14-4 run to grab a 54-40 lead with 15:45 remaining. Immaculata never looked back as they cruised in the second half to the 82-61 victory.
Amber Gordon and Christina McDonnell each totaled 19 points tp pace the Brodges (0-2).
The Mighty Macs return to action on Monday, Novebmer 19, when they host Keystone College in their home opener. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
Immaculata Falls In Season Opener
Immaculata University women's basketball team suffered a 49-43 defeat to Keuka College in the opening round of the Rinso Marquette Invitational on the campus of Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania.
Junior Dominique Murray collected her first double-double of the season with a game-high 14 points and 12 rebounds. She also tied her career high with four blocks. Freshman Holly Miara registered nine points, while senior Nina Cammarano added seven points. Junior Kasey Hicks totaled nine assists.
Erica Golden paced the Storm with 13 points, while Abby Brewer amassed 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Mighty Macs (0-1) return to action on Saturday, November 17, when they face Brooklyn College. Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
Mighty Macs Picked To Finish Third In The South Division
Immaculata University women's basketball team has been was selected to finish third in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) South Division women's basketball preseason poll. The poll was released on Tuesday, November 13, in Aston, PA.
The Mighty Macs finished the 2006-07 campaign with a mark of 15-11 overall, a record of 10-6 in the PAC South Division and a berth in the PAC tournament. It marked the second consecutive winning season for Immaculata and the third time in four years the Mighty Macs advanced to the conference playoffs.
Gwynedd-Mercy College was selected as the preseason favorite in the PAC. The defending conference champions, received 11 of 12 first-place votes and earned 143 points. They were also selected first in the North Division.
Alvernia College (112) was picked to finish second in the North, while Misericordia University (99), Marywood University (61), Centenary College (56.5) and Cedar Crest College (21.5) were selected to place third, fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively in the PAC North.
In the South, Cabrini College (131) was selected to place first, while Neumann College (109) was picked to finish second. Immaculata (84), College of Notre Dame (49.5), Rosemont College (38.5), and Eastern University (31) rounded out the voting.
The Mighty Macs begin the 2007-08 campaign in Annville, PA on Friday, November 16. Immaculata will face Keuka College in the first round of the Rinso Marquette Tournament at 8 pm.
Murray Adds More Honors; Received D3Hoops All-Region Honors
Sophomore Dominique Murray has been selected to the D3Hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Third Team. She is the only women's basketball player from the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) to be selected to one of the three teams.
The First Team All-PAC honoree led both the team and the PAC in rebounding (10.7) and led the Mighty Macs in scoring (16.5) and finished third in the PAC in that category.
Murray, a two-time PAC Player of the Week selection, collected a career-high 31 points on three occasions and pulled down a career-best 20 rebounds vs. Alvernia College on December 2. She also scored 31 points on that day. Murray garnered seven double-doubles and grabbed 15 or more rebounds seven times. She shot a career-best 15-16 from the foul line vs. Eastern University on February 12 and posted five assists vs. Alvernia.
The Mighty Macs finished the 2006-07 season with a mark of 15-11 overall. It was the second consecutive winning season and second straight trip to the conference playoffs for Immaculata.
