Patty Canterino
Director of Athletics
Patty Canterino enters her eighth season as both the Director of Athletics and head coach of the Immaculata University women basketball team. The 2005-06 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, led her squad to its second consecutive postseason berth. It marked the third time in the last four years that the Mighty Macs have advanced to the postseason.
Before her accession to Athletic Director, she held the position of Student Life Coordinator at Immaculata.
Under Canterino’s direction, Immaculata’s newest athletics facility, Draper Walsh Stadium opened in September 2006. The 1,000-seat stadium includes a sprinturf field, a concession stand, a state-of-the-art wireless scoreboard, and two team rooms. Those team rooms include home and away locker rooms, as well as official locker rooms.
At Immaculata, Canterino directs an athletics program that includes 14 varsity sports. She oversaw the addition of men’s programs to the athletic department. In September 2005, Immaculata welcomed men’s soccer, men’s basketball, men’s golf and men’s tennis as varsity programs at Immaculata. In 2006, she introduced men’s cross country and men’s lacrosse as new programs at IU.
A 1992 graduate of Immaculata, Canterino's coaching background includes stints as an assistant coach at Maria Goretti High School (1994-95) and at Immaculata (1997-98), as well as head coaching positions at Goretti (1995-97) and Archmere Academy (1999-2000).
Canterino, a member of Immaculata's basketball team from 1989-92, resides in West Chester, PA.
