Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to Centenary College 1-0 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, October 20, in Draper Walsh Stadium. It was the first meeting between these two schools.
Chris Guadagno scored the only goal of the game off an assist from Josh Spivack at 36:28. Juniors Alan Lorentz and Bryan Foster collected a team-high two shots apiece.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stone Gahagan registered three saves, while Damien DiBuono posted three saves for the Cyclones.
Centenary outshot the Mighty Macs 10-8, but both teams tallied four corner kicks.
Immaculata (6-9-1, 1-6-1 PAC) completes the 2007 season at Richard Stockton College on Monday, October 22. Kick-off is set for 7 pm.
Eastern Slips Past Immaculata
Immaculata University men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Eastern University in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, October 17, in St. David's, PA.
Ryan Castle scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Dann DeLorenzo in the 60th minute. Terry Fry added the second goal off a pass from Aaron Tritch in the 84th minute, while Tritch recorded the final goal off an assist from Luke McLaughlin in the 88th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stone Gahagan collected three saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs.
The Eagles outshot Immaculata 10-5, but the Mighty Macs held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Misericordia Stops Immaculata's Unbeaten Streak
Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to Misericordia University 3-1, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, October 13, in Dallas, PA. The loss halts Immaculata's unbeaten streak at four games.
Joey Scanlon scored the first goal of the game at 10:30 off an assist from Colin Hynes. Max Campbell provided the Cougars with a 2-0 halftime when he found the back of the net, unassisted, at 28:30.
Junior Alan Lorentz pulled the Mighty Macs to within one, 2-1, when he scored off a penalty kick at 68:00. However, Misericordia added an insurance goal at 79:00 with a tally by Tyler Mensch off assists from Campbell and Hynes.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stone Gahgan collected 14 saves for Immaculata, while Andrew Loyd recorded three saves.
The Cougars outshot the Mighty Macs 21-4 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Slow Down Pacers
Immaculata University men's soccer team defeated Marywood University 1-0, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, October 10, in Scranton, PA. The Mighty Macs improve their unbeaten to four games.
Junior, and current PAC Player of the Week selection, Gio DeMartini scored the game-winner off a corner kick from freshman Kevin Glenn at 49:56. He was able to settle the corner kick and re-direct the shot off a defender into the net to give Immaculata the win.
Sophomore Stone Gahagan collected three saves to record his second shutout of the season. Daniel Reynolds totaled seven saves in the net for the Pacers.
The Mighty Macs (7-5-1, 2-2-1 PAC) outshot Marywood 15-8 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, October 13, when they travel to face Misericordia University. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
DeMartini Named PAC Player of the Week
Junior Gio DeMartini was selected the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) PLayer of the Week for men's soccer for the week ending October 7.
DeMaritni totaled four goals and one assist in a 2-0-1 week for the Mighty Macs. He collected the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Rowan University on Monday, October 1 and registered his first career hat trick in a 10-0 win over Valley Forge Christian College on Wednesday, October 3. DeMartini also added one assist in a 2-2 tie against Alvernia College on Saturday, October 6.
For the year, he leads Immaculata in goals (5), assists (3) and points (13).
Immaculata Improves Unbeaten Streak To Three
Immaculata University men's soccer team tied Alvernia College 2-2 in double overtime in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on an unseasonably warm Saturday, October 6, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Sophomore Mike Tryell put the Mighty Macs on the board first with a tally at 21:00 off an assist from junior Gio DeMartini. Cory Lush tied the game for the Crusaders at 1-1 with a goal at 28:13 off a pass form Tim Marcinek. Immaculata broke the tie when junior Alan Lorentz found the back of the net at 32:35 off an assist from sophomore Michael Moore. The Mighty Macs held a 2-1 lead at the half.
Alvernia's David Schaeffer recorded an unassisted goal at 69:54 to tie the game at 2-2. Both teams had its chances in the overtime sessions, including freshman Kevin Glenn. Glenn had two chances in the second overtime frame to put the game away, but Alvernia's goalkeeper Richard Kessler made a diving stop on the first shot and his second shot just sailed high over the cross bar.
The Crusaders had a scoring chance in the second overtime, but sophomore Stone Gahagan knocked the ball away to preserve the tie. Gahagan collected eight saves, while Kessler registered two.
Alvernia outshot Immaculata 18-10 and held a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Cruise Past Valley Forge
Immaculata University men's soccer team stormed past Valley Forge Christian College 10-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday, October 3, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Juniors Gio DeMartini and Dan Ventura each scored three goals, while freshman Chris Giorno added two goals as the Mighty Macs scored early and often. DeMartini recorded the first two goals of the game, while Ventura assisted on the second. Ventura registered his first goal off an assist from junior Alan Lorentz at 23:03. Giorno followed with a goal at 29:32 off a pass from junior Bryan Foster. DeMartini collected his third tally - unassisted - at 30:05.
Ventura (2) and Giorno collected the last three goals of the first half, as Immaculata built an 8-0 halftime lead. Freshman Nick Carmargo and junior Bobby DeYoung amassed the final two goals of the game off assists from juniors Alron Major and TJ Ulmer.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stone Gahagan and freshman goalkeeper Ryan Williams kept the Patriots off the board, while Williams garnered one save.
The Mighty Macs (6-5) return to action on Saturday, October 6, when they host Alvernia College. Kick-off is set for 2 pm.
Immaculata Upends Rowan In Overtime
Junior Gio DeMartini recorded the game-winner at 97:47 to propel Immaculata University to a 2-1 overtime win in men's soccer action on Monday, October 1, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Junior Alan Lorentz put the Mighty Macs on the board at 9:21 off a direct kick. It stayed 1-0 through intermission until Dwyane Reevey tied the game at off an assist from Andrew Ocho at 46:41. DeMaritni added his game-winner off a perfect corner kick from Lorentz.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stone Gahagan collected six saves, while Kevin Nuss totaled one save. The Profs (5-5-1) outshot Immaculata 19-8 and held an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Fall To Widener
Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to Widener University 4-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday, September 26, in Chester, Pennsylvania.
After a scoreless first half the Pioneers' Sean Matthews tallied the game-winner at 57:14 off an assist from Bill James. Frank Nolan added an unassisted goal at 77:28. Sophomore Stone Gahagan collected three saves for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata returns to action on Monday, October 1, when they host Rowan University. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Immaculata Shuts Down Penn State - Harrisburg
Immaculata University men's soccer team defeated Penn State - Harrisburg 2-0, in non-conference action on Monday, September 24, in Middletown, Pennsylvania.
The Mighty Macs (4-4) jumped on the board quickly as junior Gio DeMartini registered a goal at 0:51 off an assist from freshman Kevin Glenn. Immaculata pushed its lead to 2-0 when Glenn found the back of the net at 26:10. Sophomore Michael Moore and DeMartini assisted on that goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Stone Gahagan recorded six saves and earned the shutout. The Nittany Lions outshot the Mighty Macs 13-12 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata returns to action on Wednesday, September 26, when they travel to face Widener University. Kick-off is set for 12 pm.
Cabrini Upends Mighty Macs
Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to Cabrini College 2-0, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, September 22, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Joe Rotan scored both goals (unassisted) for the Cavaliers. Junior Gio DeMartini and sophomore Michael Moore recorded a team-high two shots each.
Junior Jimmy Casper collected four saves and allowed one goal, while sophomore Stone Gahagan allowed one goal. Casper took the loss. Cabrini's Bryan Johnson amassed three saves in the win.
The Cavaliers (8-1, 3-0 PAC) outshot the Mighty Macs 9-7 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata (3-4, 1-2) returns to action on Monday, September 24, when they travel to face Penn State - Harrisburg. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
Immaculata Falls To Neumann
Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to Neumann College 2-0 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Thursday, September 20, in Aston, PA.
Sal Anzelmo tallied the game-winner, unassisted, at 36:16. Jesse Urquhart added an insurance goal, also unassisted, at 81:45. Junior Alan Lorentz paced the Mighty Macs with three shots on goal.
Junior Jimmy Casper collected four saves between the pipes for Immaculata, while Zack Ratliff collected six saves.

Macs Tame Lions
Immaculata University men's soccer team defeated Penn State - Berks 3-1 in non-conference action on Monday, September 17, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Sophomore Michael Moore recorded two goals, including the game-winner, while senior Kieran Keelan added one goal. Freshman Kevin Glenn amassed two assists. Cole Carbone-Swatek scored the lone unassisted goal for the Nittany Lions (0-4).
Junior Jimmy Casper collected three saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs. Matt Sterchak garnered four saves in the loss.
Immaculata outshot Penn State - Berks 11-6 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Delaware Valley College Stuns Immaculata In Final Minutes
Trailing 3-1, Delaware Valley College scored three goals, including two in the final five minutes to upend Immaculata University in men's soccer action on Saturday, September 15, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Jeremy Fennell tallied the unassisted game-winner at 87:17, after Eric Maciag scored off an indirect kick from Nathan Knight to tie the game 3-3 at 84:52. Matt Dias netted a goal at 78:12 off a breakaway to pull Del Val to within 3-2.
After the Aggies scored the first goal of the game by Andrew Kelly at 7:36, freshman Kevin Glenn tied the contest at 1-1 off an assist from fellow freshman Chris Conlan at 17:27. Junior Bryan Foster broke the tie with an unassisted tally at 39:06, while senior Kieran Keelan gave Immaculata a 3-1 halftime lead with a goal, from Glenn, at 42:11.
Junior Jimmy Casper and sophomore Stone Gahagan shared time between the pipes for the Mighty Macs as Gahagan suffered the loss.
Immaculata outshot Del Val 20-8 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Win Conference/Home Opener
Immaculata University men's soccer team shutdown Gwynedd-Mercy College 1-0 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) opener on Tuesday, September 11, in Draper Walsh Stadium.
Senior Kieran Kellan scored the only goal of the contest unassisted at 37:45. Junior goalkeeper Jimmy Casper collected seven saves and kept the Griffins off the board to earn his first career shutout. Joe Schneider registered 12 saves in the loss for Gwynedd-Mercy (2-3, 0-1 PAC).
Immaculata outshot the Griffins 18-9, but Gwynedd-Mercy held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Mighty Macs (2-1, 1-0) return to action on Saturday, September 15, when they host Delaware Valley College. Kick-off is set for 3:30 pm.
Immaculata Falls To Ursinus College
Immaculata University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2007 season as they fell to Ursinus College 1-0 on Saturday, September 8, in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
John George recorded the lone goal of the contest in the 70th minute. He was assisted on the tally by George Belaires.
Junior Jimmy Casper collected five saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs (1-1). The Bears (2-2) outshot Immaculata 16-6 and also held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Mighty Macs Shutdown Albright To Win Season Opener
Immaculata University men's soccer team defeated Albright College 3-1 to earn its first victory of the 2007 season on Wednesday, September 5, in Reading, Pennsylvania.
With the score tied at 1-1 freshman Kevin Glenn netted the game-winner at 65:27 off assists from junior Alan Lorentz and senior Kieran Keelan. Keelan also scored Immaculata's first goal at 52:41 off the foot of freshman Chris Conlan.
The Lions (0-2) scored the game's first goal at 13:12 when Chris Mignogna found the back of the net. Albright took a 1-0 lead into the intermission session.
Junior Bryan Foster added an unassisted insurance goal at 79:51.
Junior Jimmy Casper recorded six saves between the pipes for the Mighty Macs as head coach Mike Barr earned his first collegiate win. Joe Hartmann collected three saves for the Lions.
Both teams totaled eight shots, while Albright held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata (1-0) returns to action on Saturday, September 8, when they travel to face Ursinus College. Kick-off is set for 12 pm.
Immaculata Selected To Finish Fifth
Immaculata University's men's soccer team has been selected to tie for fifth in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) pre-season poll. The poll was released on Thursday, August 30, by the conference office in Aston, PA.
The Mighty Macs are slated to tie for fifth in the nine-team conference.
Eastern University was selected as the pre-season favorite. The Eagles received six of the nine first-place votes for a total of 78 points. Alvernia College, the 2006 PAC Runner-Up, was selected second with 71 points, while Misericordia University finished third with 58 points.
Cabrini College (55) placed fourth, while Gwynedd-Mercy College (41) tied for fifth with the Mighty Macs. Centenary College (28) finished seventh, while Neumann College (23) and Marywood University (10) rounded out the voting.
The Mighty Macs, who earned a playoff bid last season, open the 2007 season at the Albright College on Wednesday, September 5. Kick-off is set for 7 pm. Immaculata hosts Gwynedd-Mercy on Tuesday, September 11, in its home opener. Kick-off is slated for 7 pm.
Mike Barr Named Head Coach
Mike Barr joins Immaculata after serving as head men’s soccer coach at Strath Haven High School from 1984-2005. While at Strath Haven, Barr won five Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Titles, six PIAA District One Titles and 16 Central League Titles. He compiled a record of 439-85-46, during his 21 years in Wallingford, PA.
"I like the idea of a new soccer program," Barr explained. "I appreciate the values Immaculata instills in regards to academics and athletics. I also believe that Immaculata has one of the best soccer facilities in the Philadelphia area."
"We are excited to hire Mike Barr as the next soccer coach at Immaculata," Director of Athletics Patty Canterino stated. "We are lucky to have such an accomplished and high-caliber coach take our program to the next level. His experience, both on and off the field, will benefit our student athletes for years to come."
Prior to his arrival at Strath Haven, Barr was an assistant coach at Swarthmore College and the head coach at William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. He collected two Blue Hen Conference Championships and totaled a two-year mark of 33-8-2.
"The soccer program is unique at Immaculata," stated Barr. "In respect that it is a relatively young program and has already achieved some success."
The Mighty Macs finished their second-year with a mark of 7-11 overall and a record of 4-5 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC). Immaculata earned its first-ever berth in the PAC playoffs in 2006.
Immaculata Falls In PAC Playoffs
Immaculata University men's soccer team fell to Eastern University 9-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) playoffs on Tuesday, October 31, in St. David's, PA.
The Eagles (13-5-1) held a 1-0 lead at the half, but quickly extended it to 4-0 with goals at 50:37, 53:14 and 59:24. Eastern's Kieran Keelan and Lance Burris each recorded two goals and an assist in the game.
Sophomore Alan Lorentz paced the Mighty Macs with two shots. Freshmen goalkeepers Christopher Rolan and Stone Gahagan collected two and three saves, respectively.
Immaculata finished the 2006 campaign with its first-ever berth in the conference playoffs and a record of 7-11.
Mighty Macs Get Early Treat And Advance To PAC Playoffs
In only its second year of existence, the Immaculata University men's soccer team has advanced to the 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Playoffs. The Mighty Macs will travel to St. David's, PA and face Eastern University on Tuesday, October 31. Kick-off is set for 1 pm.
With its 3-1 win over Wesley College on Saturday, Immaculata had to wait for the outcome of the College Misericordia/Cabrini College match to determine its playoff fate. The Cougars scored at 82:48 to defeat Cabrini 4-3 and knock the Cavaliers out of playoff consideration. That gave the sixth and final playoff spot to the Mighty Macs.
"The playoffs are another step on our long-term plan to build the men's soccer program at Immaculata," said head coach Seamus O'Connor. "We are excited to meet the goal for year two. We have the best facilities in the region and we are looking to put together the best soccer team in the region."
In its inaugural season in 2005, Immaculata compiled a mark of 2-11-1 overall and 0-8-1 in the PAC. The Mighty Macs finished the 2006 regular season with a record of 7-10 overall and 4-5 in the PAC.
With the sixth seed, Immaculata will battle #3 Eastern (12-5-1, 6-2-1) in the first round on Tuesday, October 31. #4 Wesley (13-3-3, 6-2-1) will play host to #5 Misericordia (7-9, 5-4) in the second first round match. Arcadia University (9-3-5, 7-0-2), who won the regular season PAC title, is the top seed for the playoffs, while Alvernia College (10-4-3, 6-1-2) is seeded #2.
