Mike Barr

Mike Barr enters his first season as head coach of the Immaculata University men's soccer team. He takes over a program that produced a record of 7-11 overall and 4-5 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).
In 2006, the Mighty Macs became the first male varsity sport to qualify for the conference playoffs in school history. Immaculata fell to Eastern University in the first round.
Barr joins Immaculata after serving as head men’s soccer coach at Strath Haven High School from 1984-2005. While at Strath Haven, Barr won five Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Titles, six PIAA District One Titles and 16 Central League Titles. He compiled a record of 439-85-46, during his 21 years in Wallingford, PA.
"I like the idea of a new soccer program," Barr explained. "I appreciate the values Immaculata instills in regards to academics and athletics. I also believe that Immaculata has one of the best soccer facilities in the Philadelphia area."
"We are excited to hire Mike Barr as the next soccer coach at Immaculata," Director of Athletics Patty Canterino stated. "We are lucky to have such an accomplished and high-caliber coach take our program to the next level. His experience, both on and off the field, will benefit our student athletes for years to come."
Prior to his arrival at Strath Haven, Barr was an assistant coach at Swarthmore College and the head coach at William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. He collected two Blue Hen Conference Championships and totaled a two-year mark of 33-8-2.
Barr, who is the Director of Coaching for the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association, is also an instructor for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer. He has an USSF National A License, a National Youth License, a Premier Diploma from NSCAA, and a Scottish Football Association B License.
Barr has also coached players from U-16 to professional teams during his tenure as a soccer coach.
"The soccer program is unique at Immaculata," stated Barr. "In respect that it is a relatively young program and has already achieved some success."
