Jamie Chadwin

Head Coach

 

Jamie Chadwin enters his third season as head coach of the Immaculata University men’s basketball team.  In 2006-07, Chadwin guided the Mighty Macs, in their second season, to the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Final.  For his efforts, Chadwin was named the 2006-07 PAC Coach of the Year.

Last season, the Mighty Macs went 12-16 overall and finished third in the conference with a mark of 10-8.

Individually, several of Chadwin's players earned distinction in '06-07.  Sophomore Kyle Finklea led the team in scoring (13.5) and assists (68) and was second in blocks (14).  He was selected Second Team All-PAC.  Junior Robert Jones paced the squad in rebounding (8.0) and field goal percentage (55.4) and was second in scoring (12.6) and steals (47).  He was also named Second Team All-PAC.  Sophomores Josh Alderson and Sean Fordham were named to the All-PAC Academic Team, while Alderson was also selected to the Push the Rock All-PAC Sportsmanship Team.

In the inaugural season, 2005-06, Chadwin led the Mighty Macs to record of 5-20 overall and 4-14 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).  Individually, freshman Dan Lepone, who led the Mighty Macs in rebounding (5.1) and was second in scoring (12.8), was named Honorable Mention All-PAC.

Prior to his arrival at Immaculata, Chadwin was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Gwynedd-Mercy College from 2002-04.  At Gwynedd-Mercy, he helped take the program from a 13-13 record to a mark of 23-5 the following season, as well as a PAC title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen, in the schools first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Chadwin also served as administrative assistant basketball coach and student assistant at the University of Delaware.  At Delaware, Chadwin worked under current University of Notre Dame Men’s Basketball head coach Mike Brey.

Chadwin graduated from the University of Delaware in 2002, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education.

He and his wife, Rachel, reside in Ardmore, PA.

 

Joe Arnold

Assistant Coach

 

Joe Arnold enters his third season as an assistant coach of the Immaculata University men's basketball team in 2006-07. His responsibilities with the team include scouting and player development mainly working with the post players.

Last season, Arnold helped lead the Mighty Macs to a record of 12-16 overall, a mark of 10-8 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) and a berth in the PAC Championship Final.

Arnold had been the coach of the JCC Philadelphia Maccabi in 2003 and 2005. He also coached at the Philadelphia 76ers Summer Camps from 1993-99.  Arnold played high school basketball at Abington Friends School under Steve Chadwin (head coach Jamie Chadwin’s father).

“Joe is a dedicated coach who is very meticulous in scouting and film breakdown,” said head coach Jamie Chadwin.  “He has done a tremendous job at using statistics to evaluate our tendencies as well as those of our opponents.  Joe is also dedicated to community service by serving on the Board of Directors for the Lupas Foundation of America, Southeast PA Chapter, as well as continued involvement with Coaches vs. Cancer.”

Arnold holds a bachelor of science from Penn State University, and a J.D. from Seton Hall University, which he received in 2003.

 

 

Scott Friedman

Assistant Coach

 

Scott Friedman enters his third season as an assistant coach of the Immaculata University men's basketball team in 2006-07.  He oversees the team’s recruiting coordination and film exchange program.

Last season, Friedman helped lead the Mighty Macs to a record of 12-16 overall, a mark of 10-8 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) and a berth in the PAC Championship Final.

Upon his arrival to Immaculata, Friedman had been an assistant coach at Abington Friends School, coached the JCC Philadelphia Maccabi teams in 2003 and 2005 and has been involved with a number of basketball summer camps.

“Scott has a great eye for the type of student-athlete that we want in our program,” said Chadwin.  He is a great communicator and tireless worker.  We are lucky to have him with us.”

Friedman attended Bensalem High School and graduated from Penn State University in 2000, with a degree in marketing.  He currently works in media sales.



Brian Shane

Assistant Coach

 

Brian Shane returns to the Immaculata bench after a season in Florida as the Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Shore Crest Academy.

Coach Shane enters his 20th season of college and high school coaching.

“He will be instrumental in scouting, player development, and game planning,” explained Chadwin.

Shane brings a wealth of coaching experience. In addition to Shore Crest, he was the Head Coach at The Haverford School where he won an Inter-ac league title in 1999

Shane holds a Bachelors degree from Villanova University, Teacher Certification from West Chester University, and a Masters degree from St. Joseph’s University.

He currently teaches Physical Education in the Philadelphia Public Schools.

 

 

Dane Watts

Assistant Coach

 

Dane Watts enters his second season as an assistant coach of the Immaculata University men's basketball in 2006-07.

Last season, Watts helped lead the Mighty Macs to a record of 12-16 overall, a mark of 10-8 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) and a berth in the PAC Championship Final.

Upon his arrival to Immaculata, Watts had been an assistant coach at Conestoga High School.  In his nine years at Conestoga, Watts helped lead the Pioneers to two Central League titles and a berth in the PIAA State Tournament.

“Dane brings a great basketball resume to our program," stated Chadwin.  "He was a great player locally in high school and in college and brings that experience to our young program.  Above all else, Dane is a great communicator and really cares about the total student-athlete."

Watts graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 after playing three years of  basketball.  He played one season under Tom Snyder and two under current Temple University head coach Fran Dunphy.  Before his arrival at Penn, he was a three-year starter at Conestoga and finished his prep career as the second all-time leading scorer.  The two-time captain and two-time All-Central League honoree was inducted into the Conestoga High School Hall of Fame on Friday, November 3, 2006.
