Imagine Immaculata
Building on the Vision

Dear Friends of Immaculata:

On assuming the office of president in July 2002, I recall making the following observation: "I see an Immaculata that is rooted in Catholic Christian tradition; reflective of the IHM charism; visionary, looking boldly toward the future; innovative, seeking new ways to serve; rigorous, devoted to excellence; and vibrant, dedicated to educating the whole person. I have faith in Immaculata and the dedicated leadership of those who love and serve her."

My experience as president has provided a deep and detailed insight into the heart of Immaculata. As a result, I would repeat my observations, with even more conviction. As Immaculata has matured over its more than eight decades—becoming a university in 2002 and fully coeducational in 2003—more demands have been placed on every aspect of the institution: faculty, staff, budgets, and especially, facilities. Current facilities can be strained only so far before the quality of services and campus life is impacted. In fact, we must improve some essential facilities in order to compete within the marketplace and to provide the quality educational experience to which we are so committed.

Immaculata never shrinks from a valid challenge. With a clear vision of what will keep Immaculata competitive in the 21st century, the good counsel of the board in its Strategic Plan 2006–2010, careful master planning, and the commitment of volunteer leadership, we have launched the Imagine Immaculata—Building on the Vision Campaign. The phase I goal of $16 million will help fund two significant projects, a new Student Center with other facility improvements including a stadium, an eight-lane track, and athletic fields.

We recently adopted a theme to promote the university: Believe in Immaculata. Now we will ask our loyal alumni and friends to join us in that trust as we build for the future of this exceptional university.

Sincerely,

Sister R. Patricia Fadden, IHM, EdD

President
