Third Part Firewalls

Firewalls are designed to help protect your computer against hackers and NOT viruses. Firewalls are not required to be installed by resnet policy and in some cases cause conflicts with smart enforcer client. Presence of a third party firewall prevents the SmartEnforcer server and the SE client to communicate between each other resulting in the following error:

Clean Access Server is not available on the network

Important Note: This error can also be caused if you are physically not connected to the network. Please check and make sure you have good connection to the network before uninstalling firewalls.

In order to uninstall third party firewalls:

  1. Go to My Computer ->Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
  2. Find the desired firewall that needs to be uninstalled. For computers running Norton it is usually: Norton Internet security.
  3. For computers running McAfee it is usually: McAfee Internet Security.
  4. Select the item needed to be uninstalled.
  5. Click Remove.
  6. Click Remove All.
