Accelerated Degree Programs (ACCEL®)
Financial Aid Details
Students applying to the Accelerated Degree Program (ACCEL®) may be eligible for the following Financial Aid options.
Pell Grants
Pell Grant eligibility is prorated for each semester of the Accelerated Degree Program (ACCEL®) based on the number of weeks you are in class. Grants range from a minimum of $400 to a maximum of $4,000 depending on eligibility results.
PHEAA State Grant
PHEAA State Grant eligibility is based on half time, evening status as stated by Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency guidelines. The amount on the original eligibility letter from PHEAA Grant Division that you receive during the month of May must reflect half time, evening enrollment and we are required to change it. The filing deadline for state grant eligibility is May 1, 2004,
Federal Student Loans
Stafford and unsubsidized student loan eligibility is prorated for each semester of the Accelerated Degree Program (ACCEL®) based on the number of weeks that you are in class and what grade level you are (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior).
You must enroll for classes at the beginning of each semester to qualify for a student loan. The fewer classes you enroll in the less eligibility you will have. Concurrent enrollment in continuing education courses along with the regular Accelerated Degree Program (ACCEL®) semester will be considered as additional enrollment when determining a student's eligibility for financial aid programs.
You must complete a Federal Stafford MPN and mail it to PHEAA or to the Financial Aid Office if your lender is out of state. A lender from Pennsylvania will provide for electronic processing.
To borrow subsequent loans after borrowing the maximum amount for your grade level you must pass 24 credits in the academic year in which you initially borrowed. A FAFSA must be filed every year to for any of the above programs.
The 2004-2005 FAFSA should be used for classes that begin after May 1, 2004.
After all your forms are complete and on file in the Student Financial Aid Office and all requests for additional information and forms have been answered, and you have enrolled in an Accelerated Degree Program (ACCEL®) semester you will be mailed a letter showing your financial aid eligibility.
Payments of all balances not covered by financial aid are your responsibility. Grades and future enrollment may be jeopardized if account balances are not paid in full.
